Lisa's parents are separated. Like the title says, her father (supposedly) lives in Rio de Janeiro. She often gets letters from him and dreams of visiting him in South America one fine day. However, this is all a major cover-up: the father is actually in a Dutch jail for a very long time. On top of that, her loving grandfather recently passed away, and there's no chemistry whatsoever with her mom's new boyfriend. Lisa can't take it anymore and runs away from home... to Brazil.Written by
A very lovely children-film made to think for grown-ups
I saw this film on the German "Kinderkanal" (Children's Channel). But this film is not only made for children, its also for grown-ups, who should get thoughtful. Lisa, 10 years old, is told a lie, that her father lives in Rio de Janeiro, but actually he is in jail. Lisa really wants to see her father and undertakes everything to see him. She manages, and wants to fly alone, hiding the secret to her mother and the friend of the mother. A very lovely film with a surprising end, telling us: don´t tell lies to children.. recommendable
