Storyline

It's October 30, 1988 and Michael Myers has been in a coma since his pursuit of Laurie Strode, 10 years ago, was finally stopped (events of H1 and H2). However when he is transfered from Richmond Mental Institute to Smith's Grove he awakes when he hears that he has a niece in Haddonfield and after killing the transfer crew he escapes. In Haddonfield, the niece, Jamie, has been adopted by the Carruthers family but keeps having nightmares about Michael (but she doesn't know who he is). On Halloween night, Jamie goes out trick and treating, little knowing that her murdering Uncle is following her and her step-sister Rachel. Rushing to her aid is Dr. Loomis and with the help of Sheriff Meeker starts to search the town for Michael and to find Jamie to protect her. But can anything stop Michael this time? Goofs

The patrol cars and uniforms read "Haddonfield Police Department", and several (not all) characters refer to the "police station", yet Meeker is a sheriff, not a police chief, and all of his men are deputies, not officers. As such all of the livery should read "(Warren) County Sheriff's Department", as a sheriff's department and police department are two different, separate law enforcement agencies. Everything in the previous films was correctly referenced. See more »

Quotes

[after all the cops at the station are slaughtered]
Sheriff Meeker: How could a man do this, Loomis? Tell me.
Dr. Loomis: This isn't a man.
Sheriff Meeker: What is he? Tell me! What the hell are we dealing with?
Dr. Loomis: Evil.

Guess who's back!
20 December 2004 | by See all my reviews

So, it transpires that Michael Myers survived being blown up on Halloween night 1978, and ten years later HE wakes from a decade of comatose to kill again.

OK, the premise is laughable but the decision to resurrect deranged serial killer Michael Myers is vindicated through a fine movie with several memorable moments and a shocking finale.

Donald Pleasence is on fine form as Myer's increasingly crazed doctor, Sam Loomis, who also survived being blown up in Halloween II. Loomis now walks with the aid of a stick and has burns to his face and hands but is otherwise fine. Blimey! He's almost as indestructible as Myers himself!

Halloween 4 racks up the jumps and gore but loses none of the thrills and excitement form the original movies. Ellie Cornell and Danielle Harris are excellent support for Pleasence in one of the best in the Halloween franchise.
