‘Mlw: Fusion’ Review (Aug 24th 2019)

Welcome to this week’s Major League Wrestling: Fusion review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and we have only two matches, which is usually not a good sign, but neither is “Bridge Was Out”. Think about it… Yosemite Sam might get a kick out of it…and a lumpy head. Okay, I’ve got school in the morning, so shut up, sit back and let me ruin this show for you, one gripe at a time. Also, I’m told this is the most read wrestling review on the site, so take that Reader’s Digest.

Match #1: Zenshi defeated El Hijo de La Park The following is courtesy of mlw.com:

The two tried to literally sweep the legs out from under one another, but El Hijo took command of the match with suicide dive to the outside and then crotched Zenshi on the steel barricade.

‘Mr. Cleaver’ VOD Review

Stars: Ian Enriquez, Alexandra Guerineaud, Sarah Korda, Shannon Lark, Santiago Morales, Ly Pham, Ron Smith, Rosemary Maciel, Patrick Donahue, Noelle Birchwood | Written and Directed by Nik Wendelsdorf

Ahhh, the late ’80s/early ’90s… the heyday of shot-on-video horror. Where anyone could pick up a camera, make a movie and get it into video stores; well at least in the Us. This was also the era that made household names out of the likes of Donald Farmer, Tim Ritter, The Polonia Brothers and Nik Wendelsdorf.

Hold on, hold on. Nik Wendelsdorf? He didn’t make films in that era did he? Well, no. But his debut feature Mr. Cleaver sure feels like it comes from that period in horror history!

The story is simple, much like that of the genre movies it aims to emulate – a group of punks, and a psychic (of course) break into a seemingly abandoned warehouse to

Full Moon Streaming Unleashes J.R. Bookwalter's Mega Scorpions on the Web

Ten years ago director J.R. Bookwalter (The Dead Next Door) made a film called Deadly Stingers. Now, a decade later, Full Moon Entertainment has retitled this homage to giant insect flicks and is offering it streaming on the company's website!

Mega Scorpions stars Trent Haaga, Marcella Laasch, Sewell Whitney, Brinke Stevens, Stephen O'Mahoney, Ariauna Albright, Sarah Megan White, Lilith Stabs, Nicholas Read, and Jeff Dylan Graham.

Synopsis

In a small U.S. town toxic waste has been illegally dumped for years, causing the local scorpion population to grow into six-foot-long killers as a result. A young girl named Joey witnesses the death of fellow teenager Eric by a giant scorpion, but her elder sister Alice doesn't believe her. Neither does Sheriff Evans when he comes calling after finding the mutilated remains of Eric. As more local residents are killed by the scorpions, a group of teenage parolees becomes trapped in

The Lawless Land Of Direct-To-Video, Micro-Budget 80s/90s Cinema

The Lawless Land Of Direct-To-Video, Micro-Budget 80s/90s Cinema
With the demise of the drive-in theater rose the behemoth home video industry – and a torch was passed from one era of low-budget directors and producers to a new batch of underfunded fringe filmmakers. These fresh faces had new technology, and a new distribution game… but a similar reckless abandon and rebellious tenacity as their b-movie forefathers.

Fright fans were introduced to a new breed of horror movies - made for tens of thousands of dollars… or thousands of dollars… or a few hundred bucks and a borrowed video camera. Unpaid amateurs / quasi-professionals made up the bulk of most casts and crews - and often, the directors and producers were quite inexperienced themselves.

Join me for a visit to the heyday of the direct-to-video, micro-budget horror movie. We’ll explore this strange new cinema of the 80s and see how it evolved through the ‘90s. (Be sure to adjust tracking for best picture quality.

Interview With Director Scott Phillips (The Stink Of Flesh, Gimme Skelter)

Scott Phillips is a man who has his hands in many hats. He directs, writes, produces and even edits films and then on top of that he occassionally finds the time to put out a book. He also has worked in the sound department, make-up, and even acts occassionally. Is there anything this man hasn't done?!? Scott Phillips mergered erotica and horror with The Stink of Flesh for Tempe Entertainment. He then followed that with Gimme Skelter, a film produced for under $5000! He also wrote Horrorvision and Cryptz for Full Moon Pictures. With this interview, we took a look back at his career and the many hats has worn. Here is what he had to say.

Who is Scott Phillips and what are you all about?

Well, I'm not the Scott Phillips who wrote The Ice Harvest, or the Scott Phillips who made Meadowoods (that guy needs a middle initial
