Quotes

Adam: How is it that you can see us but nobody else can?
Lydia: Well, I read in that "Handbook For The Recently Deceased". It says, "Live people ignore the strange and unusual." I, myself, am strange and unusual.
Barbara: You look like a regular girl to me.

Alternate Versions

When Disney bought the rights to Beetlejuice to air on the Disney Channel, they cut out several scenes including: The scene of a second Sandworm head emerging from the mouth of another one. In the original version, when Adam and Barbara leave the model, Beetlejuice kicks over a model tree, screams "Nice fucking model!" and then makes honking sounds while he grabs his crotch. In the Disney version, an alternate take is used where he kicks over the tree, spits, and stares up at Adam and Barbara. Several shots of Beetlejuice attacking the Deitz family as a snake were removed. The scene where the receptionist in the afterlife waiting room reveals she killed herself was removed. A scene during the dance number where the Deitz's all moon each other was also removed. See more »

AND IT KEEPS GETTING FUNNIER, EVERY SINGLE TIME I SEE IT! (that's not just a quote)
27 September 2000 | by Quinoa1984See all my reviews

This is one of Tim Burton's best films. His sophomore effort shows the story of a married couple (the Maitlands played with good degree by Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis) who die accidentally off a bridge and wind up the target for a upper-class family (including a young yet well played Winona Ryder) and a weird yet scary ghost (with the most) named Beetleguise (or Beetlejuice in a scene of laughs) played to immense complexity by Michael Keaton. Sure this plot may sound a little anti-climactic being mainly gags and not really a focused story, but so what? In a film where you see sandworms from saturn, shrimps that attach after calypso and a nut who has seen the exorcist 167 time (insert quote here), why bother with a plot. Great fun every time I watch. Reccomendable to anyone.
