During the filming of the speedboat chase, the boat with actor Huub Stapel crashed into a wall when a stunt man made a steering error, which resulted in several injuries and took him out of shooting for three weeks. The accident left Stapel with chronic paresthesia in his fingers, and a rib protruding from his chest. See more »

I got us a reservation for dinner. For three by candlelight at a fish restaurant.
A fish restaurant?
You don't like fish?
Uhh, no. I don't like anything that comes out of the water.
I came out of the water, Eric.
Well, you're the one exception. Ahhhhhh!
[purposely puts foot in the water to scare Laura then laughs]
[smacks Eric in the arm]

A psychotic murderer brings terror to the canals of Amsterdam. Police chief Eric Visser is assigned to solve the case.
This must be one of the best dutch action/thriller movies made until now, at least in my opinion. Huub Stapel is perfectly cast as the protagonist with Monique Van De Ven as his love interest. The movie locations mostly involve canals/water, which create a nice, thrilling horror-atmosphere. Director Dick Maas also takes care of the great soundtrack. To me, he had already proved he's perfectly capable of this by doing a great job producing the score of "De Lift" (1983) also starring Huub Stapel. The movie simply keeps the spectator in suspense throughout the whole installment. This movie mixes thriller and horror elements perfectly! To me, it's a great one!
