A mysterious diver hiding in Amsterdam's canal system embarks on a rampage of gruesome murders, terrifying city officials and leaving few clues for the city's best detective, who doesn't suspect that both his new girlfriend and twelve-year-old daughter may be closer than he is to finding the killer. Amsterdamned is the best Dutch movie I have ever seen (I haven't seen the Assault or Karakter !). The film is great fun to watch, Good action-sequences and great humour that only dutch people will understand. How can an american understand language like Goat-fucker or Rusk-dick. The acting is not bad. Huub Stapel and Monique van der Ven (Turkish Delight) are well casted and the setting, Amsterdam, is perfectly picked. Together with Paris there isn't a prettier city. Although the water-sequences look a lot like jaws, I wouldn't call it a rip-off.
A fine piece of Dutch cinema!
