Storyline

Jericho "Action" Jackson is a Detroit police sergeant who was demoted from lieutenant for almost tearing the arm off of sexually violent sociopath Sean Dellaplane, whose father is Peter Dellaplane, a major car manufacturer. But Dellaplane himself is violent as well. Dellaplane kills his wife Patrice by shooting her. And then he plants her body in Jackson's apartment, framing Jackson. Dellaplane won't miss Patrice very much, because he has a drug-addicted mistress named Sydney Ash. He keeps Sydney hooked with a free supply of heroin. Jackson suspects Dellaplane of masterminding a murder spree against local officials from the auto workers' union. Dellaplane's mission is to gain a political power base and choose the next president of the United States. Because of what happened to Dellaplane's son Sean, Dellaplane has taken a particular dislike to Jackson. Jackson gets Sydney's help in going after Dellaplane. Written by Todd Baldridge

Trivia

According to the Captain, Jericho "Action" Jackson was a high school star athlete in track and field who later earned a Harvard Law degree, but chose to pursue a career in police work. In real life, Carl Weathers played professional football for five years in the NFL and in the Canadian Football League before pursuing an acting career. See more »

Goofs

When Jericho walks up to meet Patrice, and she storms out the door, he says: "Hi, I was just coming to see you!" After "Hi" his mouth barely moves. This is one of many scenes which have extensive ADR. Most of the outdoor scenes or dialogue in cars seem to be dubbed to various degrees. Also, the singing done by Sydney in the club is clearly play-backed. Though this could just be part of her routine. See more »

Quotes

Officer Kornblau: So what's your name?
Albert: A-Albert. A-Albert Smith.
Officer Lack: Albert, your mother and father weren't by any chance brother and sister, were they?
Albert: Hey man, what's gon' happen to me?
Officer Kornblau: Oh, nothing. Uh, wel-nothing much, uh... you might have to endure a little session with, uh, Action Jackson.
Albert: Wh-who's Axon...?
Officer Lack: *Action*, Albert. *Action Jackson*.
Officer Kornblau: Yeah, some say he didn't even have a mother. That some researchers at NASA created him to be the first man to walk on the moon without a space suit.
Officer Lack: Mm-hmm.
Officer Kornblau: Others say ...

not a bad movie
6 May 2003 | by shakey_jake53See all my reviews

Carl Weathers gets a chance to be an action hero in this very enjoyable 80's action movie. There are plenty of fist fights, explosions, car crashes, and other action in this one, and I thought Weathers did a good job in this film. The scene when he outruns a cab and rides on the roof of it was kinda dumb but still entertaining. Craig T. Nelson does a good job as the bad guy. There are plenty of familiar faces in this one including Sharon Stone, Bill Duke, Ed O'Ross, Sonny Landham, and many more. In all, a recommended film, not the best action film of the 80's, but still a fun one. 3.5/5
