Sex & Nudity

  • A man makes sexual advances on a woman before he is stopped by another man.
  • Motives are sometimes sexual affair or such. Some sexual references. In "Four and Twenty Blackbirds" (Season 1 Episode 4) - Nude artist's model is shown full nudity and several paintings of nude females clearly shown.

Violence & Gore

  • A man drugs and shoots a man in the head, later making it appear that the victim committed suicide.
  • The police open a suitcase to find the body of a missing man
  • A man and his mother watch a woman fall down a flight of stairs to her death. The scene may scare some viewers.
  • Episode 13 opens with the execution of a woman by hanging. We see a bag being placed over her head before she is hung. A few seconds later we cut back to the scene to see her hanging.
  • A woman shoots herself
  • A man is seen stabbed to death.
  • A man is drowned in a bathtub after being strapped to the tub to hold him under water.
  • A woman accidentally poisons herself after drinking a poisoned cup of tea meant for her husband that was swapped by another character.
  • Dead bodies seen , sometimes shooting and blood.

Profanity

  • Some 'goddamn you' and such but nothing explicit. "Good God/Lord", "Blast it" and other mild exclamations are common.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • A man attempts to kill another man by drug overdose, mixing sleep medication into an alcoholic drink.
  • A woman dies of drug overdose.
  • Poirot occasionally smokes cigarettes, also some people smoke casually pipes and cigars. There is casual drinking , and some people get drunk occasionally.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • It is discovered that a serial killer kills his victims by suggesting to others violent ideas.
  • A woman dies of poisoning. Graphic.
  • A man commits suicide by ensuring that he cannot get ahold a medical aid when he shows signs of a heart attack.
  • A man asks his friend to leave the room, then commits suicide. The other man realizes what is going to happen and rushes back into the room but is too late.
  • A woman is seen impaled on a vaulting pole.
  • A woman asks to be left alone in a room with her son before he is take to prison. Off screen, we hear two gunshots implying she shot him and then herself.
  • Characters discuss a woman drowning her son and daughter, and then later another baby.
  • No more frightening than most crime series. The older episodes are generally less brutal than later seasons. However, people may still be strangled, drowned, stabbed and otherwise disturbingly killed off.

Violence & Gore

  • A man is stabbed to death in an extremely violent manner by 12 other people. This is later shown on screen. Scene may upset viewers.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • In the season 13 finale, a character explains in depth why he killed a man and how this played into his own death. This is deeply emotional and disturbing.
  • A man is seen, in the season 13 finale, having multiple near heart attacks. Later on, he ensures that his heart medication is out of his reach, as he is physically impaired, as to ensure death by heart failure.
  • A mother poisons her son with a box of chocolates.
  • In "The Mystery of the Blue Train", the killer chooses to be run over by a train rather than caught by the police. This is mostly off-screen but still disturbing.
