The Real ‘Roseanne’ Effect: How It Could Energize Market for TV Comedies

The Real ‘Roseanne’ Effect: How It Could Energize Market for TV Comedies
The morning after “Roseanne” made its return to television, ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey opened an email containing Nielsen’s metered-market ratings — the day’s first indicator of how the previous night’s primetime broadcast offerings were received. What she saw did not make sense.

“I looked at the numbers and I thought, ‘That can’t be right,’” Dungey told Variety. “I honestly was floored. I thought that it was a typo and how can that be.” She remained in disbelief until shortly after 8 a.m., when the fast-national numbers arrived, bringing what happened into focus. “I was like, this is actually real.

  • TMZ

Our Fox sources tell us Allen's show -- which was controversially canceled last year -- is now under serious consideration for a reboot. There were rumors the show was canceled because of Allen's personal conservative affiliations -- he compared being a conservative in Hollywood to 1930's Nazi Germany, as well as the conservative character he portrayed on the show.

Y'all, How Messed up Is It That Joy-Anna Duggar Let Her Sister Jill Know She Was Pregnant via Text?

On this week's brand new episode of Counting On, fans watched as Joy-Anna Duggar happily bopped from house to house and told her family she was expecting baby No. 1 with Austin Forsyth. Unfortunately, Jill Duggar missed the memo. She and Jana were the only two who received a text about the news, leaving many to wonder — where is Jill? Oddly enough, she doesn't live that far away. In fact, although she and her disgraced husband, Derick Dillard, reportedly downsized, they're still living in Arkansas as far as we know. And even if they did happen to live states away, Joy and Austin could've at least taken the time to video chat with them — like they did with Jinger and Jeremy. That being said, our guess is that Joy was forced to text her big sis since Jill and Derick were fired from the show last year and are no longer

This is Kelly Bundy Coming in the Front Door Every Season of Married With Children

Despite the simplicity of the act of Kelly Bundy walking through the front door on Married With Children was almost always the beginning or the culmination of a classic moment. A lot of times she wasn’t alone when she walked through the front door, and at least half of those times she was with a male friend that her father didn’t approve of and likely wasn’t all that bright. As a matter of fact those were some of the best times since Al got to show the boyfriend just what he thought of a young man sneaking into his house

Watch How Different Joey Tribbiani is in Season 1 of Friends

In season one of Friends Joey Tribbiani was a whole lot different than he was as the series progresed. For one thing he was a total hound dog, and wasn’t afraid to just go after any woman he was attracted to. He was also kind of an idiot, but thankfully throughout the duration of the show he developed along with the others. In truth he came in more as he was when he guest-starred on Married With Children as Vinnie, a monumental moron that had the morals of an alley cat and the libido of a teenager. That’s what made

Is Super Mario Bros. the worst adapted property ever?

Anghus Houvouras on Super Mario Bros., and whether it is the worst adapted property ever…

Like any publication or website, there are a number of daily discussions about hot-topics that should be featured on Flickering Myth. A good editor surveys the pop culture landscape and looks to see what the contributors can offer to generate excitement and opinions about what’s happening in the entertainment world. Just this week there were conversations around the forthcoming Netflix Punisher series and what supporting features could be written to capitalize on the buzz.

My first thought was to examine the previous attempts at adapting The Punisher. All three had something in common: they’re all terrible. And not just terrible, uniquely terrible. Dolph Lundgren’s Punisher is terrible in a completely different way than the Thomas Jane version, while there aren’t enough words to describe the ludicrous and hilarious Punisher: War Zone.

Fox’s Future: Here Are Four Different Ways The Network Might Survive or Disappear If the Murdochs Sell to Disney

  • Indiewire
In the mid-1980s, Rupert Murdoch had just purchased 20th Century Fox and Metromedia’s TV stations in the top U.S. markets, giving him the means to launch a fourth broadcast network. He strung together a patchwork of low-rated Uhf affiliates across the rest of the country, and the Fox network launched in 1986 with “The Late Show Starring Joan Rivers.”

Scripted fare followed, including “Married with Children” and “The Tracey Ullman Show” (which, of course, would beget the still-running “The Simpsons”). But much of the industry guffawed: NBC boss Brandon Tartikoff even dubbed it the “coat hanger network.” Early ratings were slow, and affiliates threatened to revolt (indeed, some dropped out).

But Fox eventually found a lifeline in 1994, when it nabbed NFL broadcast rights. From there, it upgraded affiliates and graduated into a seven-night-a-week programmer boasting a younger, more desirable demographic for advertisers. By the 2000s, “American Idol” made Fox the No.

The Top Five Corey Feldman Movie Roles of His Career

His career took a downturn a while ago when he stopped being an adorable kid actor and became an adult, but I do vaguely remember him being in some sort of voodoo zombie movie or something. He was also in an episode of Married with Children at one point as well. Barring that he went on to a singing career that’s not really panning out and is for the most part kind of an oddity. But if you listen to his story Corey Feldman, along with Corey Haim, didn’t have it all that easy growing up since their time spent

"My cousin passed away from ovarian cancer in 2008. I could prevent that,” Applegate shared. “That’s how I’ve taken control of everything. It’s a relief. That’s one other thing off the table. Now, let’s hope I don’t get hit by a bus.”

The actress revealed that she has the BRCA1 gene mutation, which increases her chances of developing cancer. Applegate fears that her 6-year-old daughter, Sadie, could have the gene as well, and has made adjustments to her lifestyle as a result.
