Meet the Experts: 4 costume designers discuss mutual respect and taking off bras for Lisa Bonet [Exclusive Video Interview]
Costume design isn’t all fancy designer clothes and period outfits. Sometimes the costume designers themselves have to give the clothes off their backs.

“I took my bra off for Lisa Bonet. She forgot her bra,” Michelle Cole said during Gold Derby’s Meet the Experts: Costume Designers panel featuring four top Emmy contenders, moderated by this author (watch above). Cole was working as a customer under the late Palmer Brown on “A Different World” at the time. “I had to take my bra off for her and give it to her. She had no choice.”

Fox 2018-2019 Programming Slate Revealed

On Monday, Fox unveiled the network's primetime slate for the 2018-2019 television season during its annual Programming Presentation at the Beacon Theatre.

We'll then take some big swings with dramas at midseason, which is a proven strategy for Fox."

The new comedies joining the lineup this fall are Rel and The Cool Kids. Inspired by the life of Lil Rel Howery, Rel is a multi-camera comedy starring Howery as a loving husband and father living in Chicago, who finds out his wife is having an affair, and must rebuild

Quote of the Day: Lena Waithe Wants to Tell More Black, Queer Stories

Waithe: Late Night with Seth Meyers/YouTube

“I am tired of white folks telling my stories,” actress, writer, and producer Lena Waithe said in Vanity Fair’s April 2018 cover story. “We gotta tell our shit. Can’t no one tell a black story, particularly a queer story, the way I can, because I see the God in us.” The multi-hyphenate, stressing the importance of representation, added that she wants to create complex, iconic black characters in the same way Zora Neal Hurston and James Baldwin did. “James Baldwin saw the God in us. Zora saw the God in us,” Waithe observed. “When I’m looking for myself, I find myself in the pages of Baldwin.”

Waithe has already made an incredible mark on Hollywood. Last fall she became the first black woman to win an Emmy for comedy writing. She and Aziz Ansari won for penning the “Master of None” episode “Thanksgiving,

The Marisa Tomei Oscars Conspiracy That's Fascinated Hollywood For Decades

For anyone who watched the Academy Awards last year, the jaw-dropping best picture mix-up for La La Land and Moonlight might have brought to mind a long-circulated Oscars conspiracy regarding Marisa Tomei. Although the two events aren't exactly alike, it's no wonder connections between the 2017 ceremony and a moment at the awards all the way back in 1993 are being drawn. At the 65th Annual Academy Awards, Tomei took the stage to accept the Oscar for best supporting actress from presenter Jack Palance thanks to her work in My Cousin Vinny. Elated and giggly, she celebrated other Hollywood actresses in her speech, profusely thanked costar Joe Pesci, proceeded to the press room to take photos with best supporting actor winner Gene Hackman, and that was that. Except, it wasn't; what should have been a purely celebratory milestone in her career ended up turning into one of Hollywood's oldest and most interesting award season rumors.
