Deadpool Creator Says The X-Force May Rival The Avengers In Popularity

Notoriously podophobic comic artist Rob Liefeld is finally having another day in the sun.

For a couple of years in the 1990s he was the biggest thing in comic books, with his New Mutants, Youngblood and X-Force titles defining the look of the medium with their penchant for giant guns, preposterous proportions and lots (and lots and lots) of extraneous pouches. Since that craze died down he’s been something of a punchline, with his awful Captain America becoming the byword for bad comic book art. But now, with Deadpool 2‘s release just a month away, Liefeld is having the last laugh.

Deadpool, who he created with writer Fabian Nicieza back in 1991, is one of the most popular contemporary heroes, and the upcoming sequel is set to bring many Liefeld characters to the big screen as members of the X-Force team he created – who are essentially a more violent,

Drive-In Dust Offs: Jack’S Back (1988)

Throughout much of his career, James Spader has excelled at playing a type; and that type is specifically this: rich and arrogant, with a sense of condescension and an air of pretense. It’s not his fault; his wispy (or is that WASPy?) good looks and mellifluous voice initially offer little sympathy to the working class. But when he’s given an opportunity to play against this type, the results are exhilarating. Such is the case with Jack’s Back (1988), a clever thriller elevated by a terrific dual role performance from Spader. Come for Jack the Ripper; stay for James the Spaders.

Released by Palisades Entertainment Group in May, Jack’s Back only made back half of its million dollar budget at the box office and the critics were for the most part, unkind (with the exception of Siskel & Ebert, who liked it – go figure). But writer/director Rowdy Herrington

Keanu Reeves is easily the most unassuming actor out there who has a net worth of over $300 million. We’re talking about a career that’s spanned over 30 years. Reeves is a young looking 52-years-old as he embarks on his latest film chapter that is the John Wick series. Killer Role: Interview with the star of John Wick: Chapter 2, Keanu ReevesKiller Role: Interview with the star of John Wick: Chapter 2, Keanu ReevesIngrid Randoja - Cineplex Magazine2/9/2017 3:26:00 Pm

Keanu Reeves’ career has been defined by contradictions.

As a young actor he radiated an old soul, now as an older actor he embodies youth. He’s a movie star despite a limited acting range, and he’s a household name yet no one can tell you much about his personal life.

He’s best known for playing Neo in the game-changing Matrix trilogy, a role that showcased his laconic coolness and martial-arts skills. But the last Matrix pic hit theatres in 2003 and since then Reeves has been content to keep busy on Hollywood’s perimeter — appearing in small indie movies, directing his first film (the martial-arts movie Man of Tai Chi), and producing the documentary Side by Side,

Ed Lauter Exemplified Versatility, Authenticity in Character Actor’s Craft

Ed Lauter Exemplified Versatility, Authenticity in Character Actor’s Craft
Being one of the top character actors of American film and television must be the ultimate double-edged career sword.

On the one hand, if you’re good — and the late Ed Lauter was one of American cinema’s great character actors — you work all the time. On the other hand, as Lauter told Shock Cinema magazine back in 2010, “Sometimes people don’t know my name. They’ll say, ‘Oh, yeah! There’s that guy! You were in … Jesus Christ … you were in … in …’ So, in a way it’s good — and in a way it’s bad.”

Lauter was not alone in his plight. He and his fellow character actors who consistently deliver the goods have been a mainstay of American cinema since the days of the Hollywood’s “stock players,” a moniker that devalues the work of great performers from Hattie McDaniel to Peter Lorre, from Sidney Greenstreet to

Rob Lowe Graduates From Teen Heartthrob to Walk of Fame Honoree

Rob Lowe Graduates From Teen Heartthrob to Walk of Fame Honoree
When Rob Lowe emerged onto the scene in the 1980s he was a teenage heartthrob with sky-blue eyes and a winsome smile that drove swooning girls to wallpaper their bedrooms with posters featuring his impossibly pretty face. He was the dreamy Sodapop Curtis in “The Outsiders” and the persistant hustler Nick De Angelo in “Oxford Blues” and, later, the saxophone-playing screw-up Billy Hicks in Joel Schumacher’s “St. Elmo’s Fire,” a bad boy role that secured Lowe a spot, for better or worse, in the “Brat Pack,” a term coined for a core crew of actors such as Andrew McCarthy, Demi Moore and Molly Ringwald — all of whom loathed the term — who defined coming-of-age movies during the Reagan administration.

By the late ’80s, Lowe’s reputation was marred by an underage sex scandal and his career as a dramatic actor sputtered, but he regained footing as a touted comedic talent,

Keanu Classic: Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure

We at Thn collectively love Keanu Reeves and have been immensely excited about his return this year in John Wick. Although not released in UK cinemas until April, Thn have been lucky enough to have already seen it and we can tell you that it is all kinds of awesome.

John Wick was so brilliant that it has awoken my long-forgotten admiration for Mr Reeves and compelled me to revisit his extensive back catalogue immediately. Post-John Wick viewing I arrived home, logged onto Amazon and purchased an alarming amount of films, including Johnny Mnemonic (don’t worry, it was only 8p!). I thought I’d gotten through the Keanu phase at secondary school but it seems that it is now back with a vengeance. It all started after seeing that little known film The Matrix which was released right in the middle of my school career. Most of my

Keanu Reeves Facts: 33 Things You (Probably) Don't Know About the 'John Wick' Star

Keanu Reeves just turned 50, and he's still kicking butt on the big screen.

Reeves broke out in the late '80s as the now iconic Ted Theodore Logan in "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure" (1989) before "Point Break" (1991) and "Speed" (1994) made the actor a bonafide action star -- and that was all before he became Neo in "The Matrix" trilogy. In the past few years, Reeves has also found success behind the camera, directing the martial arts film "Man of Tai Chi" (2013), while still holding onto his indie roots. This fall, Reeves is back playing a legendary hitman out for revenge in the blood action film "John Wick."

From hanging out with the Red Hot Chili Peppers to his days as K.C. Reeves, here are 33 things you probably don't know about Keanu Reeves.

1. Keanu Reeves was born September 2, 1964 in Beirut, Lebanon to Patricia Taylor and Samuel Nowlin Reeves Jr.

2. His mother is an English-born costume designer,

An interview with Derek Kolstad, screenwriter of John Wick

Zachary Leeman talks with Derek Kolstad, screenwriter of John Wick

Derek Kolstad is a name you may want to keep on your radar. He’s the hot screenwriter of the moment right now with his new revenge flick, John Wick, opening and getting fan-boys and filmgoers excited about its violent throwback nature and fresh feeling.

Kolstad decided to kindly take a few moments to speak with us about Wick, his process and screenwriting in general. Check out what the man had to say about his dog loving protagonist and his own long in development movie career.

Let’s bring this story full circle. How did the screenwriter of John Wick start out?

I’ve been writing since the age of 13, but having grown up in the mid-west, I never really saw it as a career. I went to school, started a career in business, but over time grew desperate to

Rob Lowe Confesses He's "Inappropriate Frat Dad" on Jimmy Kimmel

Rob Lowe Confesses He's
It's not exactly Oxford Blues but Rob Lowe is reliving his college years—through his eldest son. Swinging by Jimmy Kimmel Live Thursday night, the 49-year-old actor and father of two admitted to spending quite a bit of time in his son Matthew's fraternity. "You have to understand. I spent 18, 19, 20 doing something else," Lowe told Jimmy Kimmel. "I know what you were doing," quipped the funnyman in an apparently not so veiled reference to the Youngblood star's playboy years. "But I do realize that being a 20-year-old movie star isn't as half as fun as being in a frat in college. I'm telling you. I'm going back, man. I'm living vicariously,"...
