Great talents involved, but not too happy.
31 July 2008 | by ILoveMovies922See all my reviews

Being a great admirer of Prince, I was not impressed with this movie. I loved Purple Rain. It had an energy, an honesty and a real story that carried us along the way. But Under The Cherry Moon seemed to really go nowhere. I thought I was watching an old Fred Astaire movie. Except it was not in the 30s!

The direction was fine. The set design was colorful. The acting was okay. The performances by the supporting cast was just not there, considering all of the wonderful talent that was in the movie.

Prince is a great talent. The writer and the actors are all gifted talents. The movie had a sophisticated approach. Why this movie didn't really come together may not be known to us in the general public.
