Storyline

57 years after Ellen Ripley had a close encounter with the reptilian alien creature from the first movie, she is called back, this time, to help a group of highly trained colonial marines fight off against the sinister extraterrestrials. But this time, the aliens have taken over a space colony on the moon LV-426. When the colonial marines are called upon to search the deserted space colony, they later find out that they are up against more than what they bargained for. Using specially modified machine guns and enough firepower, it's either fight or die as the space marines battle against the aliens. As the Marines do their best to defend themselves, Ripley must attempt to protect a young girl who is the sole survivor of the decimated space colony. Written by blazesnakes9

Trivia

The video screen park background at Gateway Station hospital is actually a still photograph of the gardens at Pinewood Studios, where the movie was made. See more »

Goofs

The landing sequence is incorrect. The dropship is seen accelerating while deorbiting, such acceleration would send it to a higher orbit. Deorbiting needs deceleration from the orbital speed. The dropship should have fired retro-rockets or it should have turned backwards to use the main thrusters for deceleration. Moreover, if the Sulaco is exactly above the colony (as stated in the novelization), the dropship should have done a vertical drop (relative to the planet) or should have completed a full orbit while descending to end up right above the colony. Alternate Versions

Ripley is sitting on a park bench waiting for Burke (before the inquisition), immediately following her stay in Gateway Station's hospital. She presses a button, and the entire park behind her disappears, revealing a gray screen. Burke enters and tells her how to behave and what to expect at the hearing. Ripley asks about her daughter but Burke tells her she needs to focus on the hearing. She insists to hear about her daughter and Burke hands her a computer printout (colour) that shows her an older woman (actual photo of Sigourney Weaver's mother). Burke tells Ripley her daughter died at age 66, which was two years ago and that she had no children. Ripley whispers that she promised her daughter she would be back before her 11th birthday before going off on the Nostromo. See more »

This ain't a film.
14 August 1998 | by Pluto-3See all my reviews

THE sci-fi movie. It's nearly perfect in every way: storyline, characters, menacing threat, suspense, action, direction, music, emotion, etc... It's always been a favorite of mine and still is. To me this is not just a film, it is an experience. The adrenaline pumps like in no other film and rarely have we had the chance to see a heroine as compelling as Sigourney Weaver. She can kick anyone's ass and still keep a heart and soul. (Why she didn't win the Oscar back in 1986 is beyond me.) When the action starts, you're in for the ride of your life. Truly a milestone in movie making. Now if they could only release it on DVD...
