The continuing saga of the Hazards and the Mains. The Hazards are from the North and the Mains from the South. George Hazard and Orry Main met at West Point and fought in the Mexican American war together becoming fast friends. Now they find themselves fighting on opposite sides of the Civil War and struggle to maintain their friendship through these troubled times.

The Union officer next to George Hazard, at the final battle and the surrender ceremony, wearing the distinctive uniform with a red neckerchief, is Major General George Armstrong Custer, later to become infamous for his death at the Battle of the Little Bighorn eleven years later in 1876. See more
Billy Hazard is shown as a member of the 1st U.S. Sharpshooters, a.k.a., Berdan's Sharpshooters, throughout the war. However, Hiram Berdan was extremely strict about forming his regiments and companies by state. As a Pennsylvanian, Billy would have been assigned to Company C, 2nd U.S. Sharpshooters, the only unit in either regiment that accepted Pennsylvanians. See more
