Storyline

Jerrica Benton is the owner of Starlight Music and the Starlight Foundation, which is a foster home for young girls. But by using her earrings to project a holographic image over herself, she is transformed into her alter ego Jem, the lead singer for the successful music group, Jem and the Holograms. Other members of the group are Jerrica's sensitive little sister Kimber, the strong-willed Aja, and the creative Shana. The group's rivals are The Misfits, made up of the cold-hearted Pizzazz, the tough-acting Roxy, and the humble Stormer. Jem and her friends are always involved in glamorous and exciting adventures around the world, while touching people's hearts with their hit songs. Written by Anonymous

Trivia

Each episode would usually feature three songs with music videos lasting around one minute. Usually it would be two new Jem songs and one new Misfits song. In the second and third seasons, some of the songs were re-used for these episodes, especially the ones by The Misfits. The Jem and The Holograms song "Like A Dream" was the only song in the series to appear in three different episodes. See more »

Goofs

In the episode "In search of the stolen album", Jem and the Holograms get a ransom note. The first line quite obviously reads "In search of good times," but the girls read out loud and then repeat "In search of good tunes." See more »

Quotes

Pizzazz: Why do you always think the worst of me?
Stormer: Don't answer that, Jem.

User Reviews

An animated show with positive moral messages--(gasp! shock! horror!)

I saw Jem for the first time on video last night and could not believe all the positive messages it contained. Kids need more of this now more than ever. Also, I really enjoyed the artistic animation it contained. Favorite episode was when Jem and her friend Dance sacrificed a major award to help lost abused runaways. It was nice to see such morality existing such artistic, creative, and beautiful 80's Bohemian women at the same time. This is a show that is good for the whole family. Hope that it comes back to be viewed for today's kids. Recommended for the entire family. Also, recommended to teach kids values they need for today unlike all the "South Park" or "Beavis and Butthead" trash that's out there today. Go ahead and see it for yourself!! (I'm such a kid at heart!!)
