Sometimes memories are not obscured by time
23 December 2016 | by BezenbySee all my reviews

I remember watching this one when it was released, what with Alas Smith and Jones being a fairly popular sketch show at the time, and my feelings now are as they were then: This film is kind of okay, but by no stretch of the imagination any good either.

It doesn't even feel much like a Smith and Jones film for some reason. The Tall Guy had more of that vibe. This one has pre-Universal popularity Jimmy Nail as one of three stupid aliens that end up on Earth and become popular even though, as the titles reveals, they're from space. And Mormons or whatever else the title says.

Mel on the other hand is the other alien that ends up on the other side of the world trying to get to his mates. Most of the genuine laughs come from Mel's side, what with the space suit sneezing and the Ken Kesey homage. Jones is kind of wasted in an Ernie Wise type role. Jimmy Nail is quite good (as he was in the eighties) as the alcoholic alien. The others involved are very 'Ealing' in their approach, which isn't funny at all.

It's up to you. I only write these reviews so I can keep track of what I watch.
