Short Film Review: A Trial Before Monsoon (2021) by Shubham Sanjay Sheavde

Short Film Review: A Trial Before Monsoon (2021) by Shubham Sanjay Sheavde
The concept of what constitutes a family has been one of the most beloved themes of cinema internationally, while movies focusing on death have been coming out of India quite intently lately (to say the least), with “Hotel Salvation” and “Outside the Burning Ghats” being the first that come to mind. Shubham Sanjau Sheavde combines the two concepts in one of his latest shorts.

Leprechaun Returns Director Would Love to Do a Sequel, But Hasn't Heard Anything Yet

Leprechaun Returns Director Would Love to Do a Sequel, But Hasn't Heard Anything Yet
While many horror movies attempt to inject humor into the proceedings to appeal to a wider audience, few manage to stick the landing. The Leprechaun franchise is one of the few horror-comedies that lend themselves perfectly to the genre. Indie filmmaker Steven Kostanski created 2018's Leprechaun Returns as a direct sequel to the original movie in the series. In an interview with ComicBook.com, Kostanski confirmed his enthusiasm for making another film in the franchise.

"Well, I mean, the producer who hired me for Leprechaun was the one that hired me for the [upcoming] Day of the Dead [TV series], so I've continued that relationship. But as far as follow-up Leprechaun sequels, I haven't heard anything, but I would honestly be all over doing it. If it happens, I'd love to do it. I had a lot of fun making that movie, and it was a great experience. It gave me more of an appreciation for the Leprechaun movies.

Day of the Dead TV Show Ties Into George A. Romero's Original Classic

Day of the Dead TV Show Ties Into George A. Romero's Original Classic
Syfy's upcoming Day of the Dead TV series will have some ties to the original movie by George A. Romero, suggesting the show will be set in the same universe as opposed to serving as a complete remake. While plot details are still vague, what's known about the series is that it will follow six strangers trying to survive the first 24 hours of a zombie outbreak. Writers Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas will serve as showrunners, and Steven Kostanski helmed four of the ten episodes.

Speaking about the status of the series on the https://bloody-disgusting.com/exclusives/3648804/syfys-day-dead-series-will-ties-george-romeros-original-classic-exclusive/|Bloody Disgusting's Boo Crew Podcast, Kostanski confirmed he wrapped his work on Day of the Dead just last month. Perhaps the most interesting takeaway from the chat is the revelation that the series will have some connections to the George A. Romero movie, though the director stops short of revealing exactly what those ties are.

Topps’ Fright Flicks Cards: Where Horror and Comedy Collide

Topps’ Fright Flicks Cards: Where Horror and Comedy Collide
This story is presented by:

In 1988, the Topps Company – creators of trading cards dedicated to everything from Major League Baseball to Garbage Pail Kids – released one of the most ambitious lines ever to hit the non-sport market: Fright Flicks. Each pack included nine cards that featured images from horror movies like Alien, Aliens, A Nightmare on Elm Street 1-3, An American Werewolf in London, Fright Night, Pumpkinhead, Ghostbusters, Poltergeist and Poltergeist II, The Fly, Predator, and Day of the Dead. Also featured in each pack was one sticker and a piece of the company’s infamous bubble gum.

To be clear, Topps had a storied history of creating cards that catered to monster kids, having already released Alien and Jaws 2 lines. In 1973, their Creature Feature line showcased black and white images from classic horror films paired with comedic captions to enhance the modern fun. A second line followed in 1980, but

The Walking Dead Season 10 Episode 16 Review: A Certain Doom

The Walking Dead Season 10 Episode 16 Review: A Certain Doom
This The Walking Dead review contains spoilers.

The Walking Dead Season 10 Episode 16

The Walking Dead has, occasionally, taken some heat for its special effects. For some, the problem is the practical effects, because they look a little too good for the comfort of some. For others, the issue is the CGI effects, because they have looked a little less than stellar at times. Remember the CGI deer? If not, don’t worry, no one will let you forget it. Special effects take money, time, and expertise to pull off well, and, as it turns out, the coronavirus delay was a positive for The Walking Dead‘s special effects crew.

There’s an immediate sense of tension to the characters from the very beginning of the episode. We’ve seen them running around, being nervous, preparing for a big battle before, but there’s an edge to them that we haven’t seen thus far.
