Storyline

Bob McGraw is in his 12th year of college, goofing his way through life. Bob the slacker, Irwin the alcoholic geek, Gonzer the human food disposal and Max the ne'er do well are the four losers forced and bribed to represent their university in an intercollegiate raft race., They make some friends like the lovely Heather Merriweather, but mostly enemies, among others a whole team of marines, and preppy IVY-leaguers determined to win. Trivia

Tim Matheson would later appear as the father of Van Wilder (2002) another college-themed comedy where the title character is similar to his character in this film, by having intentionally stayed in college for more than the normal four years. That film was also produced by National Lampoon, which produced Animal House (1978) and also co-starring Matheson. See more »

Quotes

Heather Merriweather: [Walking away from Rex] I have nothing to say to you.
Bob McGraw: Well I'm sure if you just took the time to get to know me we could work something out.

A rip snorting good "RoadRunner" style movie
18 February 2000 | by rlcsljoSee all my reviews

This movie was mostly shot in the "RoadRunner" cartoon style with the students from the Military Institute playing the part of "Wile E. Coyote". Most of the time when they tried to impede our (intrepid?) naive heroes, their traps back fire.

The counterparts of the military guys are the "preppy" guys whose gags always hit their marks(our heroes), but despite being bombed, kidnapped and beaten (literally) they dont seem to slow down our heroes.

The final revelation of our heroes that maybe others in the race are just as determined to win, or prevent them from winning, gives hilarious results from beginning to end.

Oh yeah, this is a great movie to "drink along with", while you laugh out loud.
