Trivia

Another problem the filmmakers faced was the length of time it took to get the dailies back from London, which was the closest place to have the film processed. It took two weeks before the dailies arrived back in Africa and by that time the crew would have moved on to another location. Director John Guillermin and his crew had to hope that everything they shot was right the first time around. See more »

Goofs

In the opening nude scene, Sheena appears to be under a waterfall. But on closer inspection, there is no water splashing or deflecting off of her head. It's clear the waterfall is just behind her as she acts as though she is under it, and her body appears wet though it is much too shiny and has no water running down it, so it's clear that is just oil. As the waterfall is a very high one, the force of water coming down might have been too forceful and hurt and so the scene was probably just staged to appear as though she were in it. See more »

Alternate Versions

In order to obtain a "PG" rating in the UK, 14 seconds were cut from the original theatrical release to edit the stabbing of a man's throat with a spear and a shot of a man on fire. The video release, rated "15" in 1986 restored the cinema cuts but lost a compulsory BBFC cut to a shot of a zebra being tripped over. See more »

Enjoy The Film For What Is Was Intended
7 November 2004 | by loveoutSee all my reviews

Sheena wasn't made to win any Academy awards. Nevertheless, for a "B" film the photography is actually quite good. Granted, Tanya's acting ability at this time in her life needed a lot of work. I'm sure the producers knew this going in and didn't care. They knew the attraction would be to watch Sheena doing her thing in her jungle outfit. Tanya was the perfect choice considering the reason for the film. Sheena was made to showcase Tanya Roberts stunning physical attributes and was successful in this regard. She is the reason the movie is still moderately popular after 20 years. So if you like this type of eye-candy film, enjoy! It wasn't meant to be anything else.
