Storyline

In 1937 Shanghai, a soon-to-depart soldier meets a young woman under a bridge during a Japanese air raid. They vow to meet after the war ends, but they don't each other's name or face. Ten years later, the young woman, a nightclub singer, takes in a naive girl fresh from the country. The country girl falls in love with the would-be song-writer upstairs who, unbeknownst to the singer, is none other than the soldier from the bridge. Very beautiful film directed in 1984 by legendary HK director Tsui Hark. A mix of genres , from slapstick comedy ,to musical and romance, all this accompanied by a wonderful music score , extremely beautiful photography and the gorgeous performances of the three main actors, specially Sally Yeh, who was always splendid in every movie she made...

The story takes place in Sanghai during the Japanese invasion and tells the story of a couple who fell in love under a bridge during a Japanese air raid, even not knowing each other's name they made a vow to meet again after the end of the war...

This film exceeded all my expectations and deserves to be consider a classic....Highly recommended
