    Brilliant plays - highly recommended
This whole series fo Theban plays is brilliant - the original plays by Sophocles and how they address universal issues, the script by Don Taylor, and the actors. Juliet Stevenson and Anthony Quayle in particular are exceptional. I became a devotee of Stevenson after watching her deeply feeling nuanced performances here. The Colonus play is the least dramatic of the three, and may seem the least relevant today, but consider how we treat the aged and infirm (and how we aged and infirm attempt to maintain integrity and dignity), issues of immigration and hospitality etc, and to what extent our countries take to task flaunting of basic human rights in other countries......
