Did You Know?

Even though the plot involves extraterrestrials, the creatures in this film are at no point referred to as aliens. Some fans like thinking of them as Lovecraftian-type beings. It's also never said they come from another planet, so it's possible they come from another dimension. See more »

In the prologue, Tony and Sam are seen together before Sam's abduction. The movie then fast forwards to three years later. Despite this, Tony doesn't seem to have aged at all but since the prologue is a dream of Tony's, he can have the same age in the dream and in real life, even if three years have passed since the events shown in the dream. Alternate Versions

The UK cinema release had a totally different ending to the version released onto video. Following the scene where the "alien" Sam takes his son up into the spacecraft, the cinema ending shows Bernice arriving home to find the house filled with exact doubles of her son (which have presumably hatched from the eggs shown earlier in the film) which all say "mummy" as she enters the room. The video release however shows her arriving home to find the bathroom full of the aforementioned alien eggs. As she goes to have a closer look, one cracks open and an alien "sucker" device (same as the one that came out of the Alien who attacked the blonde woman in the cottage near the beginning of the film) bursts out off the egg and clamps over her mouth. The cinema (happy ending) version has also been shown on the UK sci-fi channel. See more »

User Reviews

Surreal,bloody and bizarre.
29 August 2004 | by HumanoidOfFleshSee all my reviews

A man is kidnapped by aliens and returns some years later in the form of four legged crablike monster. He rapes a woman and a fully grown human explodes from her womb the next day."Xtro" is a rather unpleasant low-budget horror gem that is definitely not for the squeamish. The film offers plenty of strange atmosphere and lots of cheap but effective special effects. The gore is suitably nasty and the birth scene is truly disgusting and memorable. The cast is generally decent and the finale is extremely grotesque.Later Bond girl Maryam D'Abo plays the nanny and has a wonderful nude scene.Overall,"Xtro" is much better than two crappy sequels that followed.Give it a look.9 out of 10.
