During the opening, the space cruise ship is traveling inside a gaseous formation when it collides with "frozen" gas. All scenes show this ship in this gas field until it blows up, when the ship is suddenly shown on a clear star background.

When Wolff takes Niki with him in his car for the the first time, he opens the door during the ride in a close shot towards the end of the scene. In the very next shot - a wide shot - the roof is closed again.

Crew or equipment visible

The car-lot goof is often mentioned as "only visible in a work-print which was never released", but is VERY visible in many European VHS versions. When the spaceship lands, you can clearly see a street with cars in one of the corners.

A member of the crew is visible at the bottom right of the screen when Wolfs ship is seen for the first time, just before he gets the rescue mission message.

Incorrectly regarded as goofs

"Studio carpark visible when the ship first lands on the planet". The most commonly stated goof, but the error only ever featured in an unfinished workprint of this shot. It occurred because the wrong camera frame type was used for the size of the set. A local news agency obtained a copy of the workprint and incorrectly reported this as an error. The shot was corrected before the film's theatrical release and does not appear on VHS or DVD releases.
