Storyline

Thugs kidnap teenagers Sugar and Bobbylee in order to trace the whereabouts of a treasure they think the two girls know the secret to. The girls tell the three thugs about a visit they had made years before as children to a mysterious island with friends. There, on the island, they had encountered an old man, Jedediah, and his wife Granny. The old couple lured unsuspecting island visitors to their cabin where they would kill and eat them. Sugar and Bobbylee's friends, all but one, met this fate, and the two girls escaped, though not before discovering a cache of gold doubloons. When the three thugs return to the island with the girl, they discover that someone is still there, guarding the island and the treasure. Written by Jim Beaver <jumblejim@prodigy.net>

Bobbylee: Sugar, do you see those guys over there?
Sugar: Huh?
Bobbylee: Those guys over there, I think they're following us.
Sugar: Where are they? I...
Bobbylee: No, no! Don't look! Look at them in the mirror! Those were the same guys in that clothing store!
Sugar: I dunno, I can't tell what they look like. God, why don't they just come over and talk to us?
[face drops]
Sugar: Oh God, they look like creeps!
Bobbylee: Or cops! Oh, we gotta get outta here!
Sugar: I *knew* you shouldn't have messed with that necklace!

User Reviews

Bizarre and confusing.
3 December 2001 | by Moshing HoodsSee all my reviews

This is a particularly inept and difficult film to watch. Like many other of the early-80s American horror films of the same bracket, there is little in the way of atmosphere or gore to keep one interested. At this particular time, the gulf between US and European low budget horror was enormous. This particular movie takes the worst from the contemporary US horror films (such as HALLOWEEN) and 50s monster movies and creates an absolutely lamentable waste of time. Don't bother.
