The Griswold family are on a quest. A quest to a Walley World theme park for a family vacation, but things aren't going to go exactly as planned, especially when Clark Griswold is losing all thought towards a mysterious blonde in a red Ferrari.Written by
In the Walley World scenes, Anthony Michael Hall is taller than Beverly D'Angelo; in previous scenes with her, he was the same height as her. This was because Hall grew three inches after principal photography finished. The ending was re-shot four months afterward, because the original ending failed with test audiences. See more »
When the Ferrari is next to Clark, you can hear it revving, but Brinkley's left leg it up and her foot obviously not on the clutch to allow the revving. See more »
I'm making this out for one thousand dollars. All you have to do is give me 300 dollars in cash and keep 700 dollars, all for doing nothing more than acting like a total creep.

During the credits, you see snapshots of group photos of where and who the Griswalds met on the vacation. The last photo shows you how they got home, on a plane. See more »
When originally released in theaters, the song "I'm So Excited" by The Pointer Sisters was present, but quickly withdrawn, having June Pointer's "Little Boy Sweet" replace it; hence why it does not appear on the soundtrack. Mistakenly, the song is credited (as should be) but not featured in the film on VHS or DVD, just when shown on TV. "Summer Hearts" by Nicolette Larson was apart of the original ending to the film, and only remains on the soundtrack. See more »
OK so I guess you can't really call it a family movie because it's rated R. But that family movie presence is still there.
Anyway, what can I say about National Lampoons Vacation. It's probably one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. If you don't even laugh at ONE of the jokes, you're not human. I'll admit, there is some crude humor but most of it should, at the very least, make you chuckle. Chevy Chase is outstanding and is probably the funniest character in the movie.
It may be a bit old but it's a classic and I enjoy watching it.
