Following the premiere of the documentary Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice at the Tribeca Film Festival Friday night, singer Sheryl Crow took to the stage to pay tribute to the legendary singer. “Only an idiot would come on stage to perform Linda Ronstadt songs,” Crow told the crowd.

The singer then proceeded to sing a soulful rendition of “You’re No Good,” which Ronstadt put on her 1974 album Heart Like a Wheel. The Clint Ballard, Jr.-penned song was originally performed by Dee Dee Warwick in 1963.

‘Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice’ Review: Rock Doc Starts and Ends With the Music
Linda Ronstadt was always tough to figure out. And for the filmmakers behind “Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice,” which premiered on Friday night at the Tribeca Film Festival, that makes her both a rich subject for a non-fiction film, and a challenging one.

Ronstadt, after all, is a singer whose career was defined by restlessness and genre-hopping; a rock ‘n’ roll sex symbol whose upper lip alone launched thousands of crushes but who was always far smarter than even her fans gave her credit for being; a perfectionist who knew what she wanted but had trouble believing she was good enough to give it; and a private woman in a public game.

She wasn’t easily summed up when she first came to Los Angeles more than five decades also, and she isn’t easily summed up now.

Cy Howard’s 1970 film Lovers and Other Strangers, which stars Bea Arthur, Bonnie Bedelia, Michael Brandon, Anne Jackson, Diane Keaton, and Cloris Leachman, celebrates it’s 45th anniversary this year. The Royale Laemmle Theater in Los Angeles will be holding a special one-night-only showing of the 104-minute comedy on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 7:30 pm. Scheduled to appear in person are actress Bonnie Bedelia, Cloris Leachman and the Oscar-nominated co-writers Joe Bologna and Renee Taylor for a post-screening Q&A with film critic Stephen Farber.

From Anchor Bay Entertainment, the 30th anniversay edition of director Jonathan Kaplan's Oscar nominated 1983 feature "Heart Like a Wheel" starring Bonnie Bedelia as real-life racing champion 'Shirley "Cha Cha" Muldowney', is now available on DVD:

Washington, April 3: U2, Linda Ronstadt albums are among 25 recordings that will be preserved in the Library of Congress.

U2'sclassic album "The Joshua Tree," Linda Ronstadt's "Heart Like a Wheel" and an early influential Christian rock album from the 1970s and 1980s have been selected for long-term preservation in the library's National Recording Registry, the Washington Times reported.

Librarian of Congress' James Billington said that the recordings represent part of America's culture and history and as technology continually changes and formats become obsolete, people must ensure that our nation's aural legacy is.

Washington (AP) — U2's classic album "The Joshua Tree," Linda Ronstadt's "Heart Like a Wheel" and an early, influential Christian rock album will play on forever, or at least as long as the Library of Congress is around. These albums from the 1970s and 1980s are among 25 recordings selected for long-term preservation in the library's National Recording Registry, chosen for their cultural, historical or aesthetic importance. Among the seminal sounds of the 20th century announced Wednesday are Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Fortunate Son" and the Everly Brothers' "Cathy's Clown." Librarian of Congress James Billington said the recordings represent part of America's culture and history. "As technology continually changes and formats become obsolete, we must ensure that our nation's aural legacy is protected," he said. U2's 1987 album with hits like "Where the Streets Have no Name" and "With or Without You" was chosen after the library received many public nominations.

HollywoodNews.com: Last night on either “Et” or its miserable sidekick “The Insider,” Cissy Houston–Whitney’s mother–was identified as a former Elvis Presley backup singer. Just so you know as you watch the funeral tomorrow, Cissy Houston is one of those great unheralded R&B stories.

She had a group called the Sweet Inspirations. More importantly than singing with Elvis, the Sweet Inspirations had their own hits. They also sang back up on most of Aretha Franklin’s classic hits in 1967 and 1968. It’s Cissy’s high note counterpointing Aretha’s amazing record, “Ain’t No Way.” Later Cissy sang back up on lots of hit records including Linda Ronstadt’s “Heart Like a Wheel” album and Bette Midler’s “The Divine Miss M.”

The multiple Grammy Award winner-turned-activist will turn author with the book, which is named after her hit album released in 1974.

Ronstadt, who was once dubbed the Queen of Rock, will detail her rise to fame and tell all about her love life with former California governor Jerry Brown in the 1970s.

The book will be published by Simon & Schuster and will be released in 2013.
