Trivia On October 30, 1982, Dominique Dunne, who had been signed to play the role of Robin Maxwell, was at her house with co-star David Packer going over lines for the next day's filming, when her boyfriend John Sweeny arrived unexpectedly and choked Dunne into a coma. Five days later, on November 4, 1982, Dunne died. Blair Tefkin was cast to replace Dunne as Robin, and all of the scenes that had been shot with the late actress were re-filmed. According to the DVD commentary, however, Dunne is still visible from the back in one group scene that occurs as the Visitors arrive on Earth. See more »
Goofs In the shuttle right after Mike escapes with Robin from the mothership, Mike loops the shuttle, and there is shot of them upside-down. Robin raises her arms, apparently to keep from falling out of her seat, but the entire time her hair rests on her shoulders as if right-side up. See more »

Quotes Ruby Engels: Abraham, don't get so wound up. Nothing's going to happen. Not to you or your family. They're not doctors or biologists or even scientists. You're not involved. Anyway, it's going to pass.
Abraham Bernstein: That's what I said in 1938... back in Berlin.
Ruby Engels: But this is different.
Abraham Bernstein: [glances at his grandson wearing a Visitor Friends uniform] Is it?
