When I was 10 bad my little sister was 8, we watched this movie over and over and over again and it made us so happy. It's one of our favorite movies as kids. I just watched it again and it still makes me happy. Honestly, I've never seen Grease so I have nothing to compare it to. I guess I don't wanna mess up my love for Grease 2. I suppose I'll finally watch it some day.
I think the reason this movie did so badly, and most people don't like it is because of the constant comparison to the original "Grease." Of course, compared to the original it would come up short. but, try to watch it not as a sequel, but just as a movie in itself, and I think most people would like it more. Granted, it does have it's cheesy moments, such as the "(Love Will) Turn Back The Hands Of Time" number, but it's a nice, sweet movie. I loved it, personally. Rent it, it's lots of fun!
In my opinion, this movie shouldn't be rated on it's merits as a film. It's simply god-awful - but that being said, you cannot tear yourself away!
The songs themselves are ridiculous, the performances of them even more so but the kitsch value cannot be underestimated. Laugh as Michelle Pfeiffer spins across campus like a deranged duck at the end of "Cool Rider". Chortle as Maxwell Caufield (in an absolutely horrendous sweater) desperately tries to carry a tune. Giggle at all of the players as they attempt to make a serious go of it!
That this is a bad movie & doesn't live up to the original goes without saying. But there is definite entertainment value to be gotten from this disaster and you shouldn't discount that. Tonight...we bowl!

Take it on it's own merits. Forget the vulgarity of the original Grease. You can sing these songs (even "Reproduction") without embarrassment, something you CAN'T do with the songs from "Grease". This is a fun movie. I saw it I don't know how many times at the theater and took my friends by the herd to see it and they loved it. Maxwell Caufield <sp> was great in the role of the misplaced Englishman and Michelle Pfieffer <sp> was great as the confused Stephanie. I thought that the change of the 'coolness' of the T-Birds and the Pink Ladies was a good reflection of the changing times--not too many people were interested in gangs and codes etc, I guess. Don't try to judge this movie as simply a sequel to "Grease"...it's NOT really a sequel. It's more of a continuation, just in a different atmosphere.
This film to me is not that bad, most the people who have seen it compare it to the original. What I reckon is that if this was just a film and not a sequel to Grease it would probably be appreciated more.
In my opinion I like Grease 2 better, I actually found Grease to be quite boring, but hey that's just me. In Grease 2 I like the songs better and the guys are much more better looking than the first one.
Overall this movie for me is quite entertaining and I like it, and I certainly do not compare it to the first one as it is a whole new different movie and storyline.
So if you haven't seen Grease 2 before because people say it's crap and that it's a waste of time, at least give it a chance and watch it, it might surprise you.

- Trivia"Do It For Our Country" is a duet between Sharon and Louis. Maureen Teefy couldn't make it to the recording session, so Peter Frechette had to sing the whole song himself, which is why Maureen's vocals aren't on the movie's soundtrack. Her voice was dubbed in later in the song
- GoofsIn the scene near the beginning of the movie where the twins interrupt Michael while he is running around the track, a guy is on his left jumping hurdles. After he jumps the second one, his goods fall out of his shorts. He discreetly tries to cover himself for the rest of his time in the scene.
- Quotes
The Pink Ladies: The Pink Ladies Pledge to act cool, to look cool and to be cool, till death do us part, Think Pink!
- Alternate versionsIn the film, after Stephanie wins the contest, it goes on to show the Luau in the final scene. Originally, a few minutes were dedicated to a scene in which Michael comes out on stage as Stephanie is exiting the stage not knowing that he is her Cool Rider and he is alive--she believes he is dead. He attempts to ask her what's wrong and she storms past him crying, then it cuts to the Luau.
