Sex & Nudity

  • In the beginning of the show (season 1-4), the plot is based around two people's (Sam and Diane Chambers) past sexual relationship.
  • Mildly inappropriate sex jokes. Sex is talked about and mentioned frequently.
  • Season 10 focuses on Sam and Rebecca trying to conceive a child, and the episode "I'm Okay, You're Defective" has quite a few innuendos.

Violence & Gore

  • Extremely infrequent comic violence. Sporadic violent situations, for example:
  • In "Homicidal Ham", Sam is held at gunpoint. Later, it's revealed that the gun wasn't loaded.
  • In "Sam Turns the Other Cheek", Sam was held at gunpoint twice, the second time capturing Diane as well. Sam shot himself in his backside.
  • In "I'll Be Seeing You Part 1", Diane chokes Sam with a phone cord.
  • A main character dies off-screen, and everyone has mixed reactions.
  • The show takes place in a bar, but only one bar fight is seen.

Profanity

  • Infrequent uses of "ass", "damn", and "hell."
  • Extremely infrequent uses of "bitch" and "slut."

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • The show is set in a bar; alcohol, mostly beer, flows throughout every episode.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • See the description for "Violence and Gore."
