- "Vrijdag" is a complex and emotionally intense film that tells the story of Georges (played by actor Frank Aendenboom), a workman in his forties who is released from prison after serving two years for having had sexual relations with his daughter Christiane (Hilde Van Mieghem).
Christiane always favored her father since childhood and formed a close bond with him, but this developed into incestuous feelings as she grew into her teenager years. One day, while Jeanne is away, Christiane manages to seduce her father and they have sex. Later Christiane has a boyfriend, and the two join a gang of burglars. When they got caught by the authorities, the policemen chastise Christianes boyfriend for dating the under-aged Christiane. He uses as his defense that Christiane's father was being her first lover.
Christiane admits her affair with her father to the police and Georges is arrested on grounds of incest. With the town testifying either for or against him and with Jeanne defending her husband, he is convicted and sent to prison.
When he returns back to his home where he reunites with his wife Jeanne (played by actress Kitty Courbois), he discovers that his wife, Jeanne, has been having an affair with his best friend, Erik (Herbert Flack), and that she has given birth to a child as a result of the affair. Georges believes it was his punishment from God for his act. Georges still loves Jeanne and wants to forgive her for her infidelity. However, he can only do so on the condition that she leaves Erik and comes back to him.
Jeanne is conflicted about what to do, torn between her feelings for Georges and her guilt over the affair. Meanwhile, Erik is determined to hold on to Jeanne, even if it means causing further pain and turmoil. Georges and Jeanne struggle to navigate their complicated feelings and try to rebuild their relationship, but it is not easy. Georges must come to terms with his own guilt over what he did to his daughter, while Jeanne must confront the consequences of her own actions.
As tensions rise and emotions boil over, the characters are forced to confront uncomfortable truths about themselves and each other. The film is a powerful exploration of love, forgiveness, and redemption in the face of the most difficult circumstances.
