Storyline
Based loosely on the 1980 film of the same name, this series follows Private Judy Benjamin, a spoiled socialite, as she struggles through army life. Though she becomes popular with her fellow recruits, her lack of discipline earns the wrath of her superiors. Most of the humor in the series derived from Benjamin and her friends' attempts to evade the watchful eye of their captain.

Trivia
Polly Holliday was added to the cast after
Eileen Brennan was seriously injured after being struck by a speeding car travelling at 50 miles an hour. Polly was intended as a short-term replacement character, but the show was cancelled after she appeared in just two episodes. It was said that the program's marginal ratings, along with Eileen's extended hiatus due to her injuries, made it no longer viable to continue production on the series.

This series tried to take off the success of the movie by the same name. No such luck, maybe it was because that the TV staff could not hire Goldie Hawn to portray Private Benjamin. Even though this series has been off for nearly 20 years I still remember one of the jokes made by Captain Lewis (Eillen Breenan). Captain Lewis was explaining to Private Benjamin why the Army would not promote her to Major. " I made a big mistake. Instead of sending a hundred turkeys to a battalion, I sent a hundred battalions to Turkey"
