Colt Seaver is a combination bounty hunter and stuntman. He drives a big GMC truck with a eagle painted on its hood. He chases after bad guys and returns them to the Los Angeles area. He has two companions, Howie and Jodie. These two companions usually follow Colt in his adventures and sometimes they are on their own.

The theme song, "The Unknown Stuntman", became a minor hit in the early 1980s. It was credited to Lee Majors
in the pilot, but was credited to Majors' character Colt Seavers in subsequent episodes. The lyrics include the line, "I've been seen with Farrah", a reference to Majors' ex-wife, Farrah Fawcett

For its German DVD release, the show was dubbed again (with the original voice cast) because the rights to the original dubbing were not owned by Fox and were too expensive to acquire. Additionally the first dubbing was incomplete (because some episodes were cut and some were not dubbed at all). See more
