Trivia
ECMO stands for Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, it is a type of cardiopulmonary bypass used when a patient's heart and lungs are no longer able to adequately oxygenate their blood. It works by pumping the patient's blood out of their body and into a special machine that mimics the function of the lungs by removing carbon dioxide from the blood and oxygenating the red blood cells, then pumping the blood back into the body. This technique is mostly used on children due to the fact that they have a much smaller blood volume and are less susceptible to the stress the process puts on the cardiopulmonary and vascular systems, though recent advancements in the field are allowing ECMO to be used on adults more frequently.

For those of you who enjoyed the TV version of HONEY I SHRUNK THE KIDS, you will be in for a pleasant surprise in this episode, as Hillary Tuck guest-stars as a young mother suddenly developing seizures and endangering her newborn. Tuck is a terrific young actress, and gives as good a performance as the distraught mom as any actress who has ever appeared on this show. And that's saying something. Meanwhile, Cuddy has asked Wilson to dinner. Is it a date? Wilson kind of thinks so, but House isn't convinced. Foreman is back, thank God, but he's not all there. He is suffering from an aphasia. He's also gotten way too nice and sweet and nonargumentative and at peace with himself and the world, something House makes plain he will not tolerate. Chase has had enough for the time being, and ends up on the baby ward for a few weeks. This move also has House alarmed. Hell, at this point everything is alarming House. And his leg keeps getting worse.
