John Travolta’s ‘Speed Kills’ Looks Like A Terrible Film, A Sloppy Vr Experience, & Perhaps The Greatest Thing Ever

Remember good John Travolta? I’m talking “Saturday Night Fever,” “Pulp Fiction,” “Grease” (although severely problematic as a film), and “Get Shorty.” The actor, known for his penchant to be a wee-bit over the top, has turned in some incredible Academy Award-nominated work over the course of his 40+ year career. But lately, outside of a strong turn in ‘The People v.

Black Superman Costume Coming to DC TV Arrowverse Elseworlds Crossover

Mike Cecchini Oct 16, 2018

When Tyler Hoechlin shows up as Superman on the Arrowverse crossover, Elseworlds, he'll be in a black Superman suit.

There's a lot to look forward to when it comes to the upcoming DC TV Arrowverse crossover, known as "Elseworlds" kicks off in December. One of the key appeals here is not only the eagerly anticipated introduction of Ruby Rose as Batwoman (not to mention the apparent elements of Mr. Freeze's origin story and  a villain from Arkham Asylum ), but we're also getting the return of Tyler Hoechlin as Superman and the introduction of Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois Lane.

But it looks like that for at least some of Hoechlin's screen time as Superman, he won't be wearing the traditional red and blue costume. Instead, he'll be in the kind of black and silver number usually associated with the one he worse after he returned from the dead

Will Lady Gaga in ‘A Star Is Born’ Flip the Script on Female Singers-Turned-Actors?

Will Lady Gaga in ‘A Star Is Born’ Flip the Script on Female Singers-Turned-Actors?
To a much greater degree than their male counterparts, many of music’s top female singers have attempted to make the leap into the next frontier: acting. Yet only a few have managed to sustain major screen careers.

Does Lady Gaga possess the thespian talent to pull it off? She already has a Golden Globe for “American Horror Story” to go along with her six Grammys. Now, with her first starring role in a feature film, the just-opened fourth remake of “A Star Is Born,” she’s on the edge of potential Oscar glory.

You could say the true test of potential staying power for female singers has been the screen test. Doris Day aced hers in the golden age of Hollywood, and so, in the rock era, did Cher, after several flubs (including the 1969 flop “Chastity”). Barbra Streisand and Bette Midler both started in the theater but became famous

Lady Gaga vs Barbra Streisand: Will ‘A Star Is Born’ Launch a Billion-Dollar Career at the Box Office?

Lady Gaga vs Barbra Streisand: Will ‘A Star Is Born’ Launch a Billion-Dollar Career at the Box Office?
A Star Is Born” opens this weekend as one of the most anticipated releases of 2018. The film’s title may as well refer to its lead actress, Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Lady Gaga, whose previous movie experience came from brief appearances in two Robert Rodriguez films. Her reviews are rapturous and she’s a leading contender for a Best Actress Oscar nomination, all of which could make her the biggest singing crossover since Barbra Streisand.

Hollywood hasn’t seen a singer become a breakout success since Whitney Houston in 1992 — although many have tried. John Singleton’s 1993 “Poetic Justice” featured Janet Jackson opposite Tupac Shakur, which grossed $61 million. She costarred with Eddie Murphy in “The Nutty Professor 2: The Klumps” ($212 million), and was part of a Tyler Perry ensemble in two “Why Did I Get Married” films.

In 2001, Mariah Carey starred in “Glitter,” which was an embarrassing flop. The 2002 “Wise Girls” was a

Stockard Channing Looks Back at Chorus Member Days as She Returns to Stage
Stockard Channing returns to the New York stage in “Apologia,” opening Oct. 16 at the Laura Pels Theatre, following its successful West End run. Alexi Kaye Campbell’s play concerns an art historian clashing with her past as a 1960s political activist. Channing has decades of stage experience, but most people know her from movie and TV roles, including Betty Rizzo in the 1978 film “Grease,” and First Lady Abbey Bartlet in “The West Wing.”

Channing made her stage debut in Boston, in a 1966 production of “The Investigation.” Her name first appeared in Variety on Feb. 25, 1970, when she was in a pair of Terrence McNally one-acts in New York. Later, she was a chorus member and understudy in the musical “Two Gentlemen of Verona” and was rewarded with the lead female role in 1973. Since then, her honors include an Oscar nomination for “Six Degrees of Separation” and 13 Emmy nominations, including two wins.

Who will win ‘Dancing with the Stars’ season 27? Our odds say it’s Tinashe vs. Juan Pablo Di Pace vs. …
Dancing with the Stars” season 27 begins Monday night, September 24. But even before any of the celebrities have hit the dance floor our users already think they know who will win. Or at least, they’ve narrowed it down.

According to the forecasts of our readers who have entered our predictions contest thus far, R&B singer Tinashe is the front-runner for the Mirror Ball Trophy. She gets leading odds of 17/10, and for good reason. Singers like Mya, Nicole Scherzinger and Normani Kordei have done well on the show. And on top of that Tinashe comes to “DWTS” with lots of prior dance experience. She started training as a dancer when she was four, which will certainly help her judges’ scores. Then again, the judges and the audience might also hold her to a much higher standard given her prior expertise.

Olivia Newton-John Says She Never Dated John Travolta Because Of Their 'Sisterly' Bond

Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta certainly had amazing chemistry as Sandy Olsson and Danny Zuko in Grease, but that doesn't mean they were lovebirds in real life. In a new interview, Olivia, 69, revealed why she never dated the 64-year-old famed actor since every fan of the hit 1978 film thought they'd be the most perfect pair in real life. "We were both with other people when we were filming and I think, respectfully, it just didn’t happen," she shared with Mia Freedman on the No Filter podcast, adding that she would describe their bond as "sisterly." (Photo Credit: Getty Images) Olivia continued, "I think it was good, because I think it kept the tension there and the chemistry. It might have been a real disaster had we decided to date or we had a falling out or something. So I think it was just as well that it didn’t happen.

Pros

Di Pace appeared in international stage productions of “Chicago,” “Grease,” and “Saturday Night Fever.” Having experience in live stage musicals is always helpful when it comes to learning music and choreography — just ask recent winners Alfonso Ribeiro (season 19) and Jordan Fisher (season 25), both Broadway alums. He also had a small role in the first “Mamma Mia!” film

25 Forgettable ’90s Teen Movies Only Superfans Remember

Teen movies have been an essential part of a healthy cinematic diet for decades. From Rebel Without a Cause and The Blackboard Jungle in the '50s, to the Frankie Avalon/Annette Funicello beach pictures of the '60s, to Grease and American Graffiti in the '70s, to the John Hughes comedies of the '80s, teen movies have always played an important role. They give young audiences a sense that someone understands their generation's particular concerns. They make great date nights, too.

The 1990s produced their fair share of popular teen flicks -- Can't Hardly Wait, American Pie, and Dazed and Confused chief among them. It was a rocky period for movies of this type, though. Those John Hughes works, specifically The Breakfast Club and Ferris Bueller's Day Off, set the bar so high that a lot of '90s teen movies struggled to capture that same level of insight.
