    Where did this gem go?

This is the best production of Cinderella ever. I can't figure out why it has never been (as far as I can tell) rerun. It features an all-black cast, in a modern setting, with a Cinderella (Cindy) who wants to marry not a prince, but a military man.

In this version, Cinderella's father pretends to have a fancy job at a hotel, but is, in actuality, the men's room attendant.

Cinderella's mom follows him to work one day and angrily confronts him, "You ain't nothing but a lyin, cheatin MEN'S ROOM ATTENDANT!" leading into one of the best numbers I have ever seen in a musical. The men at the hotel rush to Dad's defense in a song, "The Best Damn Men's Room Attendant In the History of the Palace Hotel." At one point, a line of about twenty men file out of one bathroom stall playing brass instruments!

    Where did this gem go????

Wonderful, and it straightens out the ending

Hey, I recognize this. I surfed into the middle of it on a far-off channel and never knew what it was called. I hit the channel just as the stepsisters were scat-singing about how it's all gonna be happening at the ball. Wonderful stuff. And I was particularly impressed at the un-dumbing of the ending. Let's face it, the traditional Cinderella is nothing but "Who wants to marry a multi-millionaire" and we all know how dumb that is in the twenty-first century. So for this version, the writers used an ending that is equally happy but brings positive values to the fore.

    The Movie "CINDY"(1978)

I have been looking for this Movie for so Long. I was 9yrs old when I saw this movie, this was my 1st and only time; however I can remember the story line and some of the songs like it was yesterday. It left such a great impact on my life, I grew up in Brooklyn and this movie took place in Harlem, so I could really relate to the movie. My mother was from the south, so it was so real for me. I even remember the sugar Hill Ball, I think it was called that. I am having a hard time finding this movie. For years I have been asking about this movie, however everyone in my age group and older, say they have no idea what I am talking about.I could not remember the woman who played as Cindy, until I did a little research. Clifton Davis and Neil Carter I did remember. There are certain things that really stand out about the movie, like Cindy sleeping in the bath tub. The fire escape really stands out.If anyone knows where I can find this movie please reach out.

    Cindy 1978, I do own a copy

Hello, I was browsing movies online and I ran across this page. I saw Cindy when I was a little girl and fortunately for me I recorded it and I still own the cassette to this day, and with the advances in modern technology I have been able to convert it form VHS format to DVD format. I loved this movie and I still watch it every chance I get, my nieces also love it, we sing every song in the movie each time we watch it.

If you would like a copy, you can contact me at krystalven524@yahoo.com, and I will be happy to send you one for free!! Hope this helps you guys out!!

    I thought I was crazy

I thought I was crazy because everyone I asked had never seen this movie. I contacted every television station until I found out who aired this movie. Having only seen it once I find it amazing how much of a impact it had on me. I like you all would love to own a copy of this movie and if anyone has a copy then PLEASE contact me at Swepsoni@AOL.com. If not I think we should all contact the T.V. station and request copies or at least for it to be aired again. This is definitely one to keep, cherish and share with those who missed this wonderful adaptation. It has been a pleasure reading all of your comments and knowing that I am not the only one who saw the movie.
