Louie De Palma is a cantankerous, acerbic taxi dispatcher in New York City. He tries to maintain order over a collection of varied and strange characters who drive for him. As he bullies and insults them from the safety of his "cage," they form a special bond among themselves, becoming friends and supporting each other through the inevitable trials and tribulations of life.Written by

Conaway appeared in Grease (1978), the highest grossing film of 1978. This was the same year he starred as Bobby for the first season of this show. Conaway had also starred as Danny in the Broadway version of Grease. Coincidently, Taxi co-star Marilu Henner had also starred in Grease as Marty in the original Chicago cast at the Kingston Mines. I'm not really a cab driver. I'm just waiting for something better to come along. You know, like death.

Taxi was a creative show that will be remembered for years to come. Each episode featured huge laughs that make your sides hurt, due in no small part to Christopher Lloyd. My favorite episode is the one where Jim takes the test to be a driver. The cast had a unique chemistry that you don't see on shows these days. Taxi isn't television, it's TELEVISION.
