Trivia

The series Battle of the Planets was marketed to capitalize on the momentum created by Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977), released in the prior year. The words Battle (instead of War) and Planets (instead of Star) are plays on that theme. The character 7-Zark-7 was a play on "droid" names created in Star Wars, that utilized letters and numbers, such as C-3PO and R2-D2. See more »

Alternate Versions

This is an edited version of Gatchaman. They had to edit out several minutes of footage from each episode, due to graphic violence. As a result, the episodes were a few minutes short for syndication, so they had to add footage to make up for the footage that was cut out. Thus 7-Zark-7 was created to make up for the time shortages. He is not in the original Japanese series. See more »

Please Bring It Back
23 September 2001 | by MTCobra369See all my reviews

I agree that this was also one of my FAVORITE shows growing up and actually forgot about it until recently. I checked out Amazon.com and they have 2 videotapes coming out next month. Each tape has 2 episodes on it, in fact, I remember one episode in particular: The Space Terrapin. This does bring back memories. Even If I saw it today, however cheesy it may be, I would still enjoy it as I did when I was 9. Somebody out there...bring this show back!!
