Harrison Ford Helps Woman After She Crashes Car Off the Highway
Indiana Jones to the rescue!

Harrison Ford was a real-life hero on Sunday when, while driving down California State Road 126, he witnessed a woman lose control of her vehicle and swerve into an embankment, fire officials in Santa Paula, California, told ABC News.

The 75-year-old actor, along with several other good samaritans, helped the woman get to safety before the paramedics arrived at the scene.

In July 2000, Ford also rescued Sarah Hurst while piloting his helicopter. Hurst told Et that she was suffering from dehydration and altitude sickness during a hike off the Table Mountain in Teton County, Wyoming (altitude 11,106 ft.) when the action

Carrie Fisher Feels 'Really Bad' About Dishing on Her Alleged Romance With Harrison Ford: 'He's Incredibly Private'

Carrie Fisher Feels 'Really Bad' About Dishing on Her Alleged Romance With Harrison Ford: 'He's Incredibly Private'
Carrie Fisher finds it "surprising" that the story of her former fling with Star Wars co-star Harrison Ford has garnered so much attention.

In her new memoir, The Princess Diarist, Fisher writes that she began an "intense" affair with Ford in 1976, when he was 33 and she was 19, that went on for several months while they were filming the beloved sci-fi movie.

On Monday's Today show, Fisher told co-anchor Savannah Guthrie that she gave Ford a heads up that she would be sharing details of their alleged romance in her book. "He's incredibly private," she said. "I feel really bad doing that to him."

When asked if she was in love with Ford at the time of their romance, Fisher responded, "Well, I was 19. So, yeah. I was not sort of a cavalier-type person."

She also writes about being relieved when the

How Armistice Day Became Veterans Day, and Who Helped Make That Happen

November 11 is Veterans Day, but it hasn’t always been. Our current conception of the day was the work of a few dedicated individuals, many of whom are not known by the general public. So let’s dive into how the holiday came about.

Though the Treaty of Versailles, which officially ended World War I, was signed on June 28, 1919, the Allied nations and Germany actually reached an armistice — or a temporary stop to fighting — on Nov. 11, 1918. (The eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, by the way.)

It was President Woodrow Wilson who proclaimed the date Armistice

‘Suicide Squad’: How the Latest Bad Blockbuster Points to a Larger Problem With This Movie Season

‘Suicide Squad’: How the Latest Bad Blockbuster Points to a Larger Problem With This Movie Season
Suicide Squad” is a movie so spectacularly awful that it’s tempting to see it as a malignant singularity. But in the context of a summer that’s produced a nearly unbroken string of lackluster-at-best blockbusters, it looks more like a perfect storm, the product of everything that’s wrong with studio filmmaking happening at the same time. Like the movie’s “Team X,” which gathers together the world’s most notorious criminals, “Suicide Squad” is the worst of the worst — but it’s not alone, and that makes it indicative of a larger problem.

As Kim Masters points out in her account of the movie’s troubled production in The Hollywood Reporter, the tempestuous backstory “barely stands out in today’s landscape.” Perhaps more alarming than Warner Bros.’ last-ditch attempts to salvage “Suicide Squad” are all the similarly uninspired summer tentpoles that apparently failed to set off alarm bells.

Halfway Mark: Best Actressing of 2016 (Thus Far)

Previously at the Halfway Mark:

• 5 Favorite Pictures and imaginary Oscar scenario

• 11 Costume Design Honors from couture to the puritanical with swimwear on the side

• Cinematography & Production Design Sunset Song, etc...

Heroes & Villains from Deadpool to Shere Khan

• 23 Male Actor Honorees in 5 categories

Cue fireworks. It's the grand finale. Our brief Halfway Mark Review honoring the best of the 50+ movies we've seen that have been released between January 1st and June 30th, is now at its end. But don't worry. The listing impulse fully never goes away and there's more excitement soon as we'll start updating the Oscar charts tomorrow. Naturally we're ending with Best Actress if five categories -- the same categories we previously did for the men.

If I had a ballot (hey, I do... albeit not an AMPAS ballot) here's what I'd honor from the year thus far -- January through June releases only though I've seen some July & August titles.

Jurassic World 2 and Blade Runner 2 Posters Unveiled at Licensing Expo

Jurassic World 2 and Blade Runner 2 Posters Unveiled at Licensing Expo
If the past few years haven't made it painfully obvious, Hollywood is going a little sequel and reboot crazy these days. Even movies like Independence Day are getting sequels 20 years after the release of the original, with Resurgence coming out this weekend. Currently, the Licensing Expo is happening in Las Vegas and from what we have seen out of the convention so far, the sequels and reboots on display are plentiful.

Thanks to people on Twitter sharing photos as they walk around the Licensing Expo, we have got new looks at a whole bunch of upcoming big time sequels. Pretty much every big studio has brought some stuff to show off at the expo, because the show is all about companies licensing merchandise. That being the case, the studios have brought out their biggest properties, because that is where the big money is at in terms of licensing merchandise.

Some of the biggest,

Box Office: Melissa Shows Batman Who is 'Boss' (and Other Female Hit Stories)

To keep ourselves entertained, we like to spin the box office charts so it's not just "copy/paste" from week to week. So let's look at the box office top ten through the lens of current movies with female leads. Melissa McCarthy (in a photo finish for #1 with superheroes) and Helen Mirren keep proving their box office consistency over and over again, don't they? We're also happy to see Sally Field doing so well in what could have been a blink and you'll miss it VOD movie. Field's already outperformed last year's senior female sleeper indie hits Grandma and I'll See You In My Dreams.

But the 10 female names below make up such an odd odd sorority you must admit...

Top Ten Female Lead Movies This Weekend

01 The Boss (Melissa McCarthy) $23.4 New Melissa McCarthy

03 Zootopia (Ginnifer Goodwin) $14.3 (cum. $296)

04 My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 (Nia Vardalos) $6.4 (cum. $46.7)

First Toronto Film Festival in 1976 Blasted Hollywood ‘Arrogance and Stupidity’

First Toronto Film Festival in 1976 Blasted Hollywood ‘Arrogance and Stupidity’
Hollywood executives will be descending en masse beginning Thursday on the Toronto Film Festival — which is 180 degrees from the first festival in 1976, when U.S. distributors snubbed the event.

Canadian Secretary of State John Roberts (who also was the minister of culture) had invited Hollywood execs to attend the first fest and talk about possible joint ventures with local filmmakers. Fest director Bill Marshall said the seven Hollywood studio chiefs assured him they would attend, but then ignored the event. So the fest featured a “panel session” with seven empty chairs on the stage and name tags indicated the missing septet: David Picker (Paramount), Ron Miller (Disney), David Begelman (Columbia), Frank Wells (Warner Bros.) Ned Tannen (Universal), Alan Ladd Jr. (Fox) and Mike Medavoy (United Artists).

“I am amazed at their combination of arrogance and stupidity,” Marshall told the audience who showed up.

The studios shrugged it off, telling Toronto
