10 Major Sex Pots From The 1970s

Few recent decades contain as much sex as the 1970s. It was the era of porno chic, the sexual revolution and a general – anything goes! – attitude. Let’s face it, all of the good sex films were made in the 1970s – the classic ones like Emmanuelle and Deep Throat. Russ Meyer was sexing it up to the max and even Britain had a sexploitation industry. It may have been cheesy but at least it contained some decent eye candy.

I have given you here a wide variety of 1970s film crumpet to titillate and tantalise you. Please add your own personal 1970s babe below…

10. Dyanne Thorne

Dyanne Thorne is known chiefly for her contributions to the Ilsa series of film in which she plays the evil, sadomasochistic Ilsa in a variety of exotic settings. She had a killer body and was regularly photographed topless for pin up magazines as well

Digital Fury: DVD Essentials for June

A Planet Fury-approved selection of notable genre releases for June.

Harold and Maude (1972) Criterion Blu-ray and DVD Available Now

Forty years later, this 1972 Hal Ashby cult favorite remains a lovably eccentric meditation on life. The romance between a death-obsessed youth (an adorable Bud Cort) and a vivacious geriatric (the mythic Ruth Gordon) is still as beguiling and heartfelt as it was upon its original release. Written by Colin Higgins (9 to 5, Foul Play) and featuring an iconic soundtrack with several Cat Stevens hits, this is a must-have release for cult film buffs.

The much-anticipated Criterion release features:

A new high-definition digital restoration with uncompressed monaural soundtrack, optional remastered stereo soundtrack, audio commentary by Hal Ashby, Nick Dawson and Charles B. Mulvehill, illustrated audio excerpts of seminars by Ashby and Colin Higgins, new interview with songwriter Yusuf Islam (formerly Cat Stevens), plus a booklet featuring an essay by critic Michael Wood and more!

Confused Views: Shocking Nazi arm-licking threesome

With Tarantino's Grindhouse set to appear on DVD, Matt checks out the controversial exploitation series, Ilsa...

Grindhouse is coming out on Blu-ray. Hooray! Give us hug, you Weinstein-surnamed sons of guns. All is forgiven.

After the marketing catastrophuck that marred the film's release, followed by a lengthy period of time with no mention of the full cut, I suspected the full Grindhouse presentation would never get a proper home video release.

My favourite part of Grindhouse is the fake trailers, which, with the exception of Machete, were not included on the film's individual DVD releases. They're brilliant and it's great to see that some of them are being turned into films now. The one I liked best is yet to exist as a full length film and is probably the most difficult sell. I can't imagine it would be easy convincing people to finance a film called ‘Werewolf Women of the SS'.

R.I.P. Don Edmonds

We're terribly saddened to learn of the passing of filmmaker Don Edmonds. The actor-turned-director (and producer) was most well known to exploitation film fans for his Ilsa movies, Ilsa, She Wolf Of The SS and Ilsa, Harem Keeper Of The Oil Sheiks, as well as such features as Wild Honey, Tender Loving Care, Bare Knuckles, Terror On Tour amongst other. He also directed the pilot to Silk Stalkings and of course appeared alongside Dyanne Thorn (Ilsa herself), Sid Haig and Jack Hill in the 4th "exploitation breakfast" episode of America's Bad Kids. He will be missed...
