Trivia

Otto Preminger, who spent his younger years evading the Nazis, was less than thrilled at the concept of directing near the sites of his former trauma and would direct scenes from his car while filming in East Germany. Rumor has it that he would direct the scenes with the windows up and, when the scene was over, he would roll it down and yell, "Cut," and, "Print." See more »

Quotes

Larry Martin: The President is sitting all alone in his little oval office, trying to decide which way to go. If he allows the film to be shown, he loses the Jewish vote. If he forbids it, he loses every mother in the country. The arithmetic is on your side. Mothers are in the majority.

Good grasp of politics

OK so the plot moved a bit slowly, and the dialog was stiff - but one thing stands out. This thing reeks of history. It is a terrorist film decades before its time. It features Palestinian commando's (headed by Arafat, who is mentioned by name)it mentions the Black September group by name. In one scene a top Palestinian (couldn't tell if it was supposed to be Arafat or not) explains the meaning of Jihad or holy war.

Kinda makes one wonder if anyone in our State Department ever saw this movie? I give it a better than average rating simply because its got the historical context correct - - and was decades ahead of its time.
