Storyline

Based on the true story of Jill Kinmont. In 1955, eighteen-year-old Jill is a truly talented, gifted skier and a shoo-in for the 1956 Winter Olympics. But Jill comes close to losing everything when she takes a near fatal fall off a mountain during the last race of the season. Paralyzed from the shoulders down, Jill now has to climb another kind of mountain-working her way up from total helplessness to leading a fulfilling life. With the help of family, friends, and an extraordinary man, Jill begins the quest up that mountain. Written by Anonymous

Quotes

Jill Kinmont: Okay, that's enough!
Dick 'Mad Dog' Buek: No, that's not enough! 'Cause I'm going to stick around here until you shape up, you understand that? I don't care if you can't ski! I don't care if you can't walk! I don't care if you crawl around like a damn lizard. You're not getting any sympathy from me.

a heart felt movie
20 January 2011 | by lbain-955-462696See all my reviews

I became a paraplegic at the age of 23 on May 10th. 1979. When I came home from the rehab center the movie The Other Side of the Mountain came on. I had no idea what the movie was about. My girlfriend and I watched and cried through the whole movie. I could not believe how close it hit home and what my family and friends were going through. It is and always will be one of my favorite movies. I taped both one and two, but through out the years the tape is hard to watch and would love to get a new version of the movie. I wrote a book ( Rolling through Life )about my life after 30 years as a paraplegic, married for 25 and two beautiful children latter, life is good :) Sincerely. Lorraine "Scott" Bain
