Senator Pat Geary and his wife, Patt, are loosely based on Senator Jack (John F.) Kennedy and his wife, Jackie. Another theory is that Senator Geary is modeled after Senator Pat McCarran, who was a United States senator from Nevada in the early 1950's. The main Las Vegas airport is named McCarran Airport after him. See more »
Michael is asked at the senate hearing if he coordinated the murder of the heads of the five families in New York in 1950. Since Michael stood accused of being one of those five people, they should have instead asked him if he planned the murder of the other four bosses. See more »

Closing credits state that this film is "Based on the Novel "The Godfather" by Mario Puzo." In fact, only the scenes showing the young Vito have any basis in the novel. Everything dealing with Michael Corleone and his family in Las Vegas was created for the film, with the exception of the character Deanna Dunn. See more »
This movie is way to be good to be labelled a sequel to The Godfather . Rather it is more of a companion piece to the original and the two perfectly compliment each other . IT is both a sequel and prequel showing the rise of the young vito and moral decline of Micheal . Both characters are brought to life with uncanny ability by Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino . To say that these two are good actors is like saying that a nuclear bomb makes a loud noise and in this movie they prove why they are at the top of their respective crafts .
Al Pacino is the standout in the ensemble cast and its amazing how his eyes have changed from the first part . They are now cold , ruthless and unemotional and betray the price which Micheal Corleone has paid for power .
Watch this movie and learn why it is the greatest gangster film of all time.
