Trivia

One of three cinema movie collaborations of producer-hairdresser Jon Peters and actress Barbra Streisand. The films are For Pete's Sake (1974), The Main Event (1979), and A Star Is Born (1976). Peters was Streisand's hair stylist and not a producer on For Pete's Sake (1974) but performed producing duties on the other two features, with Streisand also a producer on The Main Event (1979) and an executive producer on A Star Is Born (1976). All three major motion pictures were made and released during the 1970s. See more »

Goofs

In the beginning of the movie Henry leaves her apartment wearing solid color jeans and a patch-work jacket. The jeans have seams as if they are constructed in patch fashion, but they are made with same color denim fabric. Then as the actor's body doubles ride their motorcycle to work, Henry's jeans change to a patch-work pattern to match the jacket, with the left thigh dark blue and faded blue from the knee down. But then when Streisand arrives as Henry's, the patch-work jeans have changed again, and are now constructed with faded fabric for the thighs and dark denim from the knees down to the boots. Quotes

Henrietta 'Henry' Robbins: I've asked you a dozen times. If I write a check and I'm overdrawn a few dollars, just call me. Or take the money out of our savings account and put it in our checking account to cover it. We have over $300 in our savings account.
Assistant Bank Manager: You're 62 cents over.
Henrietta 'Henry' Robbins: That's what I said: "over". You bounced my check. It's very embarrassing.
Assistant Bank Manager: With only $300.62 in your account, should you be eating pot roast.
Henrietta 'Henry' Robbins: Look my husbands brother and his wife are coming over for dinner. What's it to you if I give em a pot ...

Barbra Streisand shines as a woman helping her husband (Michael Sarrazin) get through school, whatever it takes. What takes place is very funny because he has no idea what she does all day as he's working as a cab driver in New York City. She keeps all of her hilarious misdeeds from him, hoping to be able to make the money he needs for school. She'll do anything...all for Pete's sake. My rating: 8
