Aunt Polly : What happened to you, boy? Look at you!

Aunt Polly : You were with Huckleberry Finn. Why don't you tell the truth for once?

Now, God knows I have tried. But you continue to disobey me, to lie to me, to cavort with the trash in this town. I'm afraid you're gonna grow up to be a wastrel like your father was, God forbid.

Tom Sawyer : Don't you talk about my father like that.

Aunt Polly : Well, that's what he was, a no-good, irresponsible bum, leaving your mother and you, a tiny baby. No use lying to yourself about him, too. I am not gonna let you turn into what he was, as God is my witness.

    Tom Sawyer : Well, If'n I was God -

[Aunt Polly slap Tom Sawyer's face]

Aunt Polly : Don't you dare to take the name of the Lord in vain! May God forgive you.

[Aunt Polly walks away from him, closes the door]
