Sex & Nudity

  • A woman gets an illegal abortion in the film. The procedure is unhealthy and unhygienic in the scene.
  • A woman becomes a prostitute. A woman attempts sex, partially laying on top of a man in bed and kissing him. He turns her down. Side nudity is seen. A sheet covering a topless woman drops as she sits up in bed and hugs her knees. She then sits for a while on the edge of the bed before putting on a shirt. Nudity is seen throughout. Several men shower together. Nudity is obscured.

Violence & Gore

  • A woman's puppy escapes from her arms and jumps into the ocean from a boat.
  • Closeups of heroin needles being injected are rather prominent.
  • A man repeatedly slaps a woman, grabs her head and throws her onto a bed while in a rage. She hides in the bathroom and he threatens to break the door down while name-calling her.

  • 8 uses of fuck, 1 cunt, some milder swearing.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • A character is seen smoking throughout the film. Many characters are drug addicts or drug dealers. Heroin use is prevalent. Extreme closeups of drug injections are shown, including one scene where the process is shown from beginning to end.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The heroin injection scenes can be genuinely uncomfortable to watch, as they're filmed in the most realistic manner, with closeups of the needle penetrating the skin.
  • Bobby and Helen have an extremely toxic and unhealthy romance, with domestic violence playing a part in it. These scenes can be rather distressing to watch.
  • The scene where Helen's puppy escapes from her arms and accidentally jumps into the ocean from a boat can be particularly distressing to watch, especially for animal lovers.
  • The abortion scene can be gross and uncomfortable to watch for viewers (though we don't see the procedure itself being done, or the aftermath).
