Storyline

Archie Bunker, was a bigoted working-class family man who held his views of the world. His viewpoints clash with nearly everyone he comes into contact with especially his son-in-law Mike Stivic (or, as Archie delights in calling him, "Meathead"). Written by Brian Rathjen <briguy_52732@yahoo.com>

Trivia

Rob Reiner has said in recent interviews that he still gets called Meathead all the time to this day. See more »

Goofs

Mike is shown being a college student in the 1970s. Assuming that he went to college straight from high school (or even after an open year) he would still be in his early 20s when the series began. Rob Reiner is clearly older than the character would be and he seems to be a very poor student as it takes him nearly six years to complete college (despite going full time) only to obtain a job that would require just a four-year degree. Quotes

Mike Stivic: You know, you are totally incomprehensible.
Archie Bunker: Maybe so, but I make a lot of sense.

A Part of History
15 October 2005 | by General_GSee all my reviews

In my book, All in the Family wins the award for the best television show of the seventies. This show is very historic. It talks about politics and racism and the way things were in the seventies and somewhat teaches you what it was like back then and on top of that it was funny as Hell! Archie Bunker alone will be a character that will really go down in history. As the show went on you really saw how he also learned and not to be such a racist and you just saw him change. Edith wins as thee craziest TV housewife with her high voice and that shes always so happy and full of energy and a pleasure to be around, pretty much the opposite of Archie. You got to have the crazy kids too that are getting on there nerves, but in this case it was the other way around. I love this show and thank goodness TV Land shows the re-runs.
