Storyline

Adam is a young American wrongly accused of being an accomplice to murder while on shore leave in Liverpool. He is sentenced to death by hanging but the sentence is commuted to twenty years in a convict settlement in Australia. The governor of the colony has a scheme in mind to settle Australia by allowing convicts to marry and by giving them land, and Adam is the perfect choice to prove his scheme is viable. He is partnered with Bess, a young Irish lass, and together they endure the hardships of the Australian outback. Written by Kevin Steinhauer <K.Steinhauer@BoM.GOV.AU>

Convicts Pioneer Australian Outback
26 January 2004 | by tondeaSee all my reviews

Beau Bridges is an engaging rogue in this movie about an American who becomes an Australian convict. Jane Merrow is excellent as his convict wife. I don't think this movie gets the credit it deserves mainly because it is not seen that much. But if you get a chance to see it, do. You will be in for a pleasant couple of hours.
