‘Sesame Street’ Muppet Lily Becomes First To Experience Homelessness

‘Sesame Street’ Muppet Lily Becomes First To Experience Homelessness
Sesame Street is breaking ground again, this time with a storyline that finds Lily, a Muppet introduced in 2011, having no place to live. The magenta-hued 7-year-old is featured in a series of online episodes in which she reveals to her good pal Elmo news of her family’s experience with homelessness.

“Me and my parents haven’t had a place to stay for a while,” Lily tells Elmo in one of the scenes (she later shares the good news that her family is moving into their “very own apartment.”)

Sesame Workshop announced the Lily storyline as part of a new initiative to “offer help and hope to the growing number of young children across the United States who are experiencing homelessness.” The storyline is featured in new videos, storybooks and interactive activities geared for families with children between 2 and 6 years old, as well as the teachers, social workers and healthcare providers who serve them.

Sesame Street is tackling yet another important issue with the help of one of their Muppets.  Through recent Sesame Street in Communities videos shared online, Sesame Street introduced a new storyline for Muppet Lily, who first joined the show nearly a decade ago. "I miss our apartment and now we don't have our own place to live," she says in one video as the rest of her schoolmates leave. "And sometimes I wonder if we'll ever have our own home again." As she tells her friend Elmo and Sofia in a separate clip, her family no longer has an apartment and she misses her bedroom as they stay in different places.   After connecting "the dots of love" in one...

Who Is Tiffany on The Bold & The Beautiful? — Meet Maile Brady

That's Maile Brady, the 15-year-old daughter of actor and comedian Wayne Brady, making her acting debut as Tiffany on The Bold & The Beautiful. Originally scheduled to appear in the Oct. 3 episode, national preemptions bumped her show to Thursday, Oct. 4. “I’m so proud of my girl!” Papa Brady gushed on Instagram. “It’s so weird to see your offspring being all grown up and working.” And now that Mr. Brady is playing Dr. Reese Buckingham on the soap, father and daughter will share some scenes together! When she thought they were going to lunch together, Tiffany got quite an earful from her Bff, Emma, about her boyfriend, Xander, getting a little too close for comfort with his ex, Zoe. Tiffany reminded her gal pal that this had happened before with Jonathan and noted that Emma could get dangerously jealous. Em was grateful for Tiffany's advice, and tried to make things right with Xander.

Netflix Orders Coming-Of-Age Series ‘I Am Not Okay With This’ From Jonathan Entwistle & Shawn Levy Based On Comic
British director Jonathan Entwistle once saw a copy of Charles Forsman’s self-published microcomics series The End of the F***king World in a trash bin. The find led to him creating the cult comedy-drama series for Channel 4 which became a Netflix original in the rest of the world.

Now Entwistle is taking another series of self-published Forsman microcomics, which channel the teenage ethos, I Am Not Okay With This, to make it into a coming-of-age TV series for Netflix. He is teaming on the project with Shawn Levy, the director-executive producer of Netflix’s coming-of-age mega hit Stranger Things.

Netflix has ordered eight episodes of I Am Not Okay With This, which falls under Levy and his 21 Laps Entertainment have at the streaming network.

Co-created by Entwistle and Christy Hall, the series is written by Hall and directed by Entwistle. I Am Not Okay With This is about

Exclusive: In a bidding battle between multiple studios, Fox 2000 and 21 Laps have acquired feature rights to Mothers, Lock Up Your Daughters Because They Are Terrifying, an elevated horror short story written by Alice Sola Kim. The story was published in Tin House Magazine in October. I heard there were five offers as this became the latest in a pre-holiday flourish of material deals before the town shuts down for the holidays.

Mothers is the story of three girls, born in South Korea and adopted by American families, who feel isolated within their adopted families and their suburban hometown. When they discover a spell that summons the spirit of their Korean “mother,” it at first seems a dream come true. But darkness lies beneath, and this spirit may be more demon than savior.

21 Laps’ Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen are producing with author Kim executive producing. Becca Edelman brought the project

Anne Hathaway Offered a Role in Robert Zemeckis' New Adaptation of The Witches

Director Robert Zemeckis has been developing a new adaptation of Roald Dahl’s classic 1973 book The Witches for Warner Bros. Variety is reporting that Anne Hathaway has been offered one of the lead roles for the film, but she has yet to take the job or not. The actress is also in talks to join the new Sesame Street movie.

I like Hathaway, and The Witches seems like it would be an awesome project for her to jump on board. The script for the film was co-written by Zemeckis, his partner, Jack Rapke, along with Alfonso Cuaron (Gravity) and Guillermo del Toro (The Shape of Water).

The story for The Witches follows a seven-year-old boy who has a run in with real-life witches. It’s said that Zemeckis’ version will be "more rooted in the original source material, while the Huston pic was a loose adaptation." Here's a description of

Anne Hathaway in Talks to Star in Warner Bros.' Sesame Street Musical

Anne Hathaway is currently being scouted by WB to star in their upcoming Sesame Street movie, which is said to be a musical. Emmy-nominated Jonathan Krisel, co-creator of Portlandia, is set to direct, and Hathaway is the only cast member in talks so far.

Collider reports that if Hathaway is cast, she will play the part of Sally, which is the name of the girl in the first episode of Sesame Street. We don’t currently know if that plays a part in the plot, or if it’s just paying homage, but either way, it’s cool.

I am not positive that we absolutely need a Sesame Street movie, but I’m ready to be convinced! I know my youngest will be excited. And I am a sucker for a musical. So hopefully it ends up being a fun family movie.

Does Sesame Street strike a sentimental chord for you?

Anne Hathaway wanted for Warner Bros.’ Sesame Street movie

Anne Hathaway has proven herself to be one of the most versatile performers working in film today. Tackling blockbusters such as The Dark Knight Rises and Ocean’s 8, indie gems like Rachel Getting Married, winning an Academy Award for Les Misérables, all after earning her stripes in comedy with The Princess Diaries. Now Collider are reporting that she’s about to take on something larger than all of those movies put together: Big Bird in the upcoming Sesame Street movie.

It was revealed back in October that Portlandia c0-creator Jonathan Krisel would be orchestrating the Muppet mayhem, which is believed to be a musical, and that it would be produced by Stranger Things and Night at the Museum‘s Shawn Levy.

This report suggests that Hathaway could be set to play a character named Sally, which is the name of a young girl who appeared on the first episode

Sesame Street Records to Be Relaunched by Warner Music and Sesame Workshop

Sesame Street Records to Be Relaunched by Warner Music and Sesame Workshop
When thinking of classic television performances by major recording artists, people usually mention “Saturday Night Live,” “Ed Sullivan,” Super Bowl halftimes, the Doobie Brothers on “What’s Happening” and late-night shows ranging from Johnny Carson to James Corden.

Rarely does anyone mention “Sesame Street” — which is understandable, because the show’s audience is overwhelmingly children aged 5 and below — and yet it holds one of the greatest and most unique music archives of the past 50 years.

You’ve got Stevie Wonder singing “Superstition” as well as a numbers freestyle on the show’s classic set in 1973. A beaming Lauryn Hill and the Fugees dancing around the streets of New York with Big Bird and Mr. Snuffleupagus to a revised version of “Be Yourself.” Patti Labelle leading a rousing gospel-inspired musical reading of the alphabet. Opera icon Marilyn Horne singing an astonishing, pitch-perfect take on “C Is for Cookie” on an elaborate mock-Egyptian set surrounded by Muppets.
