  • Dürrenmatt understood decades ago that 'bankers can get away with anything.' Of course, the bankers he had in mind were Swiss bankers, but bankers nonetheless. This is documented in Dürrenmatt's musical play Frank V. (Frank the Fifth), which, as far as I know, has never been translated from German into English. Dürrenmatt was the author of the Visit, which was filmed, and, more recently available on the big screen, the Pledge, staring Jack Nicholson. The best online access to the content and ideas of Frank V. can be accessed by Google Books, Roger A Crockett, Understanding Dürrenmatt.
