Exclusive: UK distributor buys slate and catalogue with more than 500 titles; predicts “doubled market share”.
UK distributor Kaleidoscope (Khe) has acquired fellow UK outfit Platform Entertainment Ltd, including its upcoming slate and film and TV catalogue.
The deal sees Khe take over all sales and distribution for the company’s 500-strong library, including 10 Minute Solutions, TV series Spartacus, Vendetta, We Still Kill The Old Way, The Adventures of Tin Tin, and I Spit On Your Grave.
Upcoming titles include Black Sails Season 4, We Still Steal The Old Way, Sky Sharks and Bonded By Blood 2.

Danny Dyer's actress daughter Dani has revealed that her dad doesn't want her filming sex scenes.
Dani, who stars alongside Martin Kemp in forthcoming film Age of Kill, said that her father will "never be happy" with her doing scenes where 'everyone is on top of her'.
Speaking to The Mirror, Dani said: "[My dad] wouldn't have been happy if I'd been doing scenes where everyone is on top of me."
"It isn't nice for him to see, he will never be happy with me doing things like that."
Speaking about her strict parents, Dani said: "If I tell my parents the truth they are fine but if I take the liberty in the house, I get grounded and get my phone taken away."
She added: "I wasn't allowed a phone until I was 16. And I wasn't allowed home later than 11pm. So I'd say I'm staying at my friend's house,

Highland Film Group has added the reconfigured Chris Pine comedy Mantivities to its ambitious slate and is talking to buyers on the Croisette.
Pine wrote the screenplay and will produce the story with Sarah Babineau, Haven Entertainment’s Kevin Mann and Jordana Mollick.
Mantivities centres on a group of men who try to instil responsibility in their pal, a former child star, by taking him on a day of activities.
The film will also star real-life friends Robert Baker, Ian Gotler, Will Greenberg, Drew Howerton, and Tony Liebetrau – collectively known as The Button Factory.

He said: "Danny Dyer is a good friend and we always chat about who is in the show. He told me how impressed he was by Danny-Boy when he first auditioned for the part of Lee.
"When I saw him I knew he had the makings of a star. He has the perfect combination of looks, charisma and talent."

Anchor Bay Entertainment, the UK home entertainment arm of Us distributor Anchor Bay, has signed a four film co-production agreement with Jonathan Sothcott’s Richwater Films.
The two companies will develop, finance and produce a minimum of four feature films per year, starting with thriller We Still Kill The Old Way. Anchor Bay Entertainment will retain UK distribution rights.
Co-written by Gary Lawrence and Green Street Hooligans’ writer Dougie Brimson, the feature revolves around a group of ageing London gangsters on a vigilante killing spree after one of their number is murdered by a street gang.
The deal is not exclusive for Richwater, which will shortly begin filming gangster epic Top Dog for Universal Pictures UK.

Based on its title, and a one-line synopsis in Halliwell's Film Guide, this movie (Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion, Elio Petri, 1970), had long been a movie I'd wanted to see. Observe:

The fact that Leslie Halliwell seemed only mildly impressed by the film didn't put me off: the fact that he saw any virtue in a movie made after 1960 strongly suggested that this was a triumph. Often, the value of a movie could be judged by how much it annoyed Mr. Halliwell.
Director Elio Petri is probably best-known for directing The Tenth Victim, a pop-art sci-fi classic which anticipates the murderous horrors of reality TV and gave us the original bullet-bra fembots who later plagued Austin Powers, but the man was a lot more than a merchant of slick kitsch.
